Yoshinoya Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Tetsuya Naruse) will launch the limited-time “Gyu Sanma Teishoku,” a set meal featuring saury from Hokkaido, at Yoshinoya restaurants nationwide (excluding some locations) from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The set lets diners enjoy grilled saury and Yoshinoya’s gyu kobachi (a small bowl of simmered beef) in one meal, and it is the third installment of the “Yoshinoya Fish Set Meal” series launched in May 2026. This article covers the dish’s highlights, prices, related menu items and important notes.

What Is the Gyu Sanma Teishoku? Hokkaido Saury Paired with Simmered Beef
Yoshinoya has offered the Gyu Sanma Teishoku out of a wish to let customers casually enjoy saury, a classic taste of autumn in Japan, in a way only Yoshinoya can. This year, it uses saury from Hokkaido. The set consists of grilled saury, gyu kobachi, rice and miso soup, reflecting the company’s desire for customers to enjoy a hearty, satisfying meal. With both fish and meat on one tray, it is a perfect match for Japan’s “autumn of appetite.”
Crispy Outside, Plump Inside – Served with Beef Simmered in a Secret Sauce
The Hokkaido saury is grilled until crisp and fragrant on the outside while staying plump and juicy inside. The accompanying gyu kobachi is simmered in each restaurant using Yoshinoya’s secret sauce. Enjoying the smoky aroma of grilled fish and the savory flavor of Yoshinoya’s beef at the same time is what makes this set meal unique.
Recommended Ways to Eat It
Yoshinoya suggests two ways to enjoy it. One is to eat the Hokkaido saury as is, with a big mouthful of piping-hot rice. The other is to add grated daikon radish for a lighter, more refreshing taste. Whether you savor the grilled flavor straight or go for something lighter, you can choose depending on your mood that day.

Meat and Fish for Autumn – Free Extra Rice and Refills
Rice with the set meals can be upsized or refilled free of charge. Since this set comes with two main dishes – grilled saury and gyu kobachi – it is a welcome perk for anyone who likes plenty of rice.

Also Available: Sanma Teishoku, Saury à la Carte and a Breakfast Swap
For those who prefer to enjoy saury simply, there is also the “Sanma Teishoku.” It includes grilled saury, rice, miso soup and oshinko (Japanese pickles), with pickles in place of the gyu kobachi. Saury is also available à la carte, so you can choose according to your preference.
In addition, on the breakfast menu, salmon can be swapped for saury for an extra ¥77 (tax included). Being able to enjoy saury in the morning is a nice option.

The Third Installment of the Popular “Yoshinoya Fish Set Meal” Series
Yoshinoya launched its fish set meal series in May 2026, and many customers have praised it for making delicious fish dishes easy to enjoy. Following the first installment featuring hokke (Atka mackerel) and the second featuring kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), the Gyu Sanma Teishoku is the third in the series. Yoshinoya says it will continue to offer products that let customers enjoy its meals in many different situations, not just gyudon (beef bowls).
