MOS Burger’s Kanazawa Curry Katsu Burger Is Back at More Stores

Mos Food Services, Inc., the operator of MOS Burger, will launch the “Kanazawa Curry Katsu Burger” on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. This MOS-style take on Kanazawa curry is available for a limited time, in limited quantities and in selected regions. The key to its flavor is a curry sauce made with Noto pork raised in Ishikawa Prefecture. The burger is sold to support recovery from the 2024 Noto Peninsula disasters. In its third year, the burger is available at far more stores in Tokyo. A new Chukyo-only item, the “Kanazawa Curry Menchi Katsu Burger,” also joins the lineup.

Menu and Prices

Kanazawa Curry Katsu Burger (¥550, tax included)

A crispy pork loin katsu sits on shredded cabbage dressed with MOS Burger’s katsu sauce. It is topped with an original Kanazawa curry sauce made with Noto pork. The sauce also contains onions and other ingredients, and MOS says it has even richer depth and flavor than last year. The burger recreates the hallmarks of Kanazawa curry: a thick, rich roux, tonkatsu on top and shredded cabbage on the side.

  • Curry sauce: Kanazawa curry sauce containing Noto pork
  • Pork loin katsu: made with U.S. pork

Kanazawa Curry Menchi Katsu Burger (¥480, tax included) *New, Chukyo region only

New this year is the “Kanazawa Curry Menchi Katsu Burger,” sold only at MOS Burger stores in the Chukyo region (Gifu, Aichi and Mie prefectures). Menchi katsu is a breaded minced-meat cutlet, and this one is simply prepared to bring out the flavor of pork loin. It sits on shredded cabbage with katsu sauce and is topped with the rich Kanazawa curry sauce made with Noto pork. The crisply fried cutlet pairs well with the curry sauce.

Born from an Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration

The Kanazawa Curry Katsu Burger was created in October 2024 through an industry-government-academia collaboration. The partners were Mos Food Services, Tokyo’s Itabashi City and Nihon Pharmaceutical University. Itabashi City has a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on Regional Revitalization with the company. Itabashi is MOS Burger’s birthplace, and the very first store opened there in Narimasu. Itabashi also has a Friendship Exchange City Agreement with Kanazawa, the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture. Product development began when Itabashi introduced the company to Kanazawa. Students from Nihon Pharmaceutical University contributed ideas for the product and its promotional materials.

Until now, the burger was sold in Tokyo only at stores in Itabashi, but this year it expands to stores across Tokyo. Some stores will also display messages of support for the Noto Peninsula from Nihon Pharmaceutical University students on their welcome boards and elsewhere.

About the Partnership with Itabashi City

Located in the northwest of Tokyo’s 23 wards, Itabashi is a residential city with a population of about 580,000. Ties with Mos Food Services deepened when the company marked its 50th anniversary in 2022. In May 2023, the two signed a comprehensive partnership agreement covering child-rearing, next-generation development, tourism promotion and other areas. All 10 MOS Burger stores in Itabashi stock the Itabashi tourist guide map.

About Nihon Pharmaceutical University

Founded in 2004, Nihon Pharmaceutical University has signed partnership agreements with 30 local governments and administrative bodies (as of the end of September 2026). It also develops products through industry-government-academia collaboration. The university has worked with Mos Food Services before. In December 2023, MOS developed the “KEIRIN Grand Prix 2023 Tachikawa Limited Burger TERIYAKI” exclusively for the KEIRIN Grand Prix at Tachikawa Velodrome, and the university served as coordinator to make those sales happen.

Summary

The Kanazawa Curry Katsu Burger pairs a rich Noto pork curry sauce with a crispy pork loin katsu. The new Kanazawa Curry Menchi Katsu Burger is available only in the Chukyo region. Both are sold from Wednesday, October 14 to the end of October 2026, in limited quantities. Enjoy a taste of Kanazawa’s local cuisine while supporting Noto’s recovery.
