LINE Gift Lottery: Up to 70% Off Coupons, Nobody Loses

Key Takeaways: LINE Gift runs four lottery rounds between September 11 and 21, each open for 24 hours from 11:00. Tap the heart on three items and a coupon is issued every time — anywhere from 70% down to 5%, with the discount capped at ¥5,000. The catch is the exclusion list: gift certificates and vouchers are barred as a category, and Amazon is an excluded shop.

Up to 70% off, capped at ¥5,000. The catch is not the odds — it is the list of things the coupon will not touch.

Here is the short version. Open LINE, tap the ショッピング (Shopping) tab at the bottom, and look for a banner reading ほしい♥ポチッとくじ. If it is there, you are in. Tap the heart on three items on the lottery page and the draw resolves instantly — everyone gets a coupon, but the discount lands anywhere between 70% and 5%. The round that opens at 11:00 on September 12 is the broad one, capped at ¥5,000, so a 70% pull turns a ¥5,000 Gusto or Sushiro voucher into ¥1,500. Below: all four rounds from Sep 11 to Sep 21, and the parts that trip people up after the coupon is in hand.

Four rounds, two different lotteries alternating

The confusing part is that this is not one campaign. Two separate lotteries share the same name, and each runs a first and a second round, so you get four draws in total — with different eligible products and different prize ladders. Tap the banner on reflex and you may not know which coupon you just collected.

Here is the schedule as published in the campaign terms. Each round lasts exactly 24 hours, from 11:00 to 10:59 the next day.

The green row is the one opening at 11:00 on September 12. Note that the drink-ticket round that started on the 11th runs until 10:59 that same morning, so the two hand over mid-morning: drink tickets until 10:59, the broad round from 11:00.

The terms say 自分・友だち宛 — yourself or a friendOne line in the campaign table settles the most common question: buying for yourself counts. You do not have to send the gift to anyone. In practice this is a personal discount coupon that happens to live inside a gifting app.

Dates and terms above were taken from the published campaign tables on September 12, 2026. The tables themselves carry the note “日程、内容は変更になる場合があります” (schedule and content may change), so treat the screen inside LINE as final.

Everyone wins, but the prize ladder differs by round

Both lotteries promise a coupon to every entrant — there is no losing ticket. Put the two tables side by side, though, and a difference shows up that most coverage skips:

Drink ticket rounds70 / 50 / 30 / 10%Worst case is still 10%
Broad rounds70 / 30 / 10 / 5%No 50% tier, floor drops to 5%

The ceiling is 70% either way. What changes is what is left when you miss it: the drink-ticket rounds bottom out at 10%, while the broad rounds drop the 50% tier entirely and fall as low as 5%. That tracks — the wider the coupon can be spent, the more conservative the expected value.

In yen, assuming you use the full face value:

10% off¥450¥630¥4,500 (saves ¥500)
5% off— (tier not offered)¥4,750 (saves ¥250)
The odds are not publishedThe “one in two people gets 70%” figure circulating online comes from coverage of August’s single-product rounds (the ones where a Baskin-Robbins or FamilyMart voucher was the prize), not from this campaign. These tables list four discount rates and no probabilities at all. Budget as if you will pull 5% or 10%, and treat 70% as a bonus.

How to enter: three taps, instant result

Everything happens inside the LINE app. There is nothing to install and no web entry point.

  1. Open LINE and tap ショッピング (Shopping) at the bottomIt sits in the middle slot, where VOOM used to be. If yours still says VOOM, this round is not available to you — the next section explains why.
  2. Open the ほしい♥ポチッとくじ bannerNo banner means you are not in this round. The banner only appears during the 24-hour window, so it vanishes once the round closes.
  3. Tap the heart on three items on the lottery pageThe terms specify items “displayed on the lottery-related page”. Hearts you tapped elsewhere in LINE Gift do not count toward the three. Once you have three, the draw unlocks.
  4. Get your result on the spot; the coupon lands in My Page > CouponsThere is no later announcement — the rate is fixed the moment you draw. One entry per person, no re-draws. At checkout, LINE Gift applies a qualifying coupon automatically.
Accounts without a registered phone number cannot receive couponsLINE Gift’s help center states this plainly, and it also lists “already claimed on another account with the same phone number” and “already claimed on another account on the same device” as blockers. A second account will not get you a second coupon.

How to tell whether you are a “selected user”

Under その他 (other), the campaign table says only 一部ユーザー限定 — limited to some users. No criteria, no way to opt in. The background makes it easy to check, though.

Since September 2025, LINE has been replacing the VOOM tab at the bottom of the app with a Shopping tab, rolling it out in stages (ITmedia NEWS). That new tab is the route into LINE Gift, and it is where this banner lives. So the check is:

Bottom tab says ショッピングLook for the banner. If it is there, you can draw. This is the only reliable test.
Bottom tab still says VOOMThe rollout has not reached you. There is no setting to switch it on. Sit this one out.
Tab is there, banner is notHaving the tab does not make you eligible for every round. Same answer: wait for the next one.
The old LINE Shopping mall has shut downThe cashback mall you used to route purchases through for LINE Points (shopping.line.me) closed on June 1, 2026 at around 15:00; the domain now redirects to a notice on LINE Gift. Most English guides that come up for “LINE Shopping” stop before that date, so keep the two apart: this lottery lives in the app’s bottom tab and has nothing to do with the old mall.

The real catch: gift certificates are excluded outright

This is the part worth reading twice.

“Up to 70% off, ¥5,000 cap” invites one obvious idea: buy a ¥5,000 Amazon gift card for ¥1,500 and pocket the difference. That does not work, and it is not a grey area — LINE Gift spells it out in the help center.

LINE Gift Help Center: shops and products where coupons cannot be usedThe excluded products are listed as “金券・商品券全種、お買い物券全種、一部キャンペーンの対象商品 等” — every kind of gift certificate, voucher and store-credit ticket, as a category. The same page carries a separate list of excluded shops, and Amazon is on it.

There is a second layer that catches people out. The same page has another list titled “shops where coupons of 11% or more cannot be used”. At those shops a 5% or 10% coupon goes through, but a 70% coupon is rejected. Winning the top tier and then watching it fail at checkout is the most baffling version of this problem.

The lists are maintained and dated, so open them before you commit: LINE Gift Help Center — shops and products where coupons cannot be used.

So what were August’s ¥150 convenience-store vouchers? Those rounds were single-product draws — the coupon existed specifically to buy that FamilyMart or Baskin-Robbins voucher, the “products covered by specific campaigns” clause working as an exception here rather than an exclusion. The broad rounds are not single-product, so the general rule applies again. Carrying August’s experience into this week is how you end up stuck at checkout.

One practical tell: excluded items say “この商品はクーポンの対象外です” (this product is not eligible for coupons) on the product page. If you see that line, nothing is wrong with your app — pick something else.

What to spend it on — Gusto and Sushiro both have ¥5,000 vouchers

With certificates off the table, what remains is food and retail e-gifts: conveyor-belt sushi, family restaurants, ice cream, doughnuts, coffee, fashion e-commerce. Three rules are enough to choose well.

1. Use the full ¥5,000The discount is a percentage and stops at ¥5,000. A ¥2,000 purchase at 70% saves ¥1,400; the same coupon on ¥5,000 saves ¥3,500.
2. Pick a place you already goAn unused voucher is worth nothing. A chain you will visit within a month or two beats a steeper discount somewhere you would not.
3. There is no changeE-gifts are typically one use per ticket, with any unused balance forfeited. Spend ¥3,200 of a ¥5,000 ticket and the remaining ¥1,800 is gone. Match the face value to your usual bill.

Rule 3 above has exactly one exceptionSkylark vouchers can be spent down to the yen. The product page says so, and they work at Gusto, Bamiyan, Shabu-yo, Jonathan, Musashino Mori Coffee, Karayoshi and around 2,600 other restaurants. A ¥5,000 face value, and no stranded remainder — if you want to convert the whole cap into a discount, this is currently the most straightforward way to do it.
“On sale” and “the coupon works” are two different questionsAll five above are confirmed as available on LINE Gift, but check separately that the coupon goes through. The help center’s exclusion covers “all gift certificates, vouchers and store-credit tickets”, and restaurant meal vouchers are not named there. Even so, ineligible items say “この商品はクーポンの対象外です” on the product page, and what settles it is whether the discount actually appears at checkout. Once you have picked a brand and a face value, stop at the payment screen and read the total before confirming.

Put numbers on it: you pull 70%, buy a ¥5,000 sushi gift for ¥1,500, and you were already going to eat there twice this month at roughly ¥2,500 a visit. That ¥3,500 is genuine cash saved. Flip it around — an extra trip to a place you do not normally go, ordering things you would not normally order — and you have eaten the savings. Chains often run their own promotions too, so overlapping them helps: Sushiro is handing out bonus points this month, for instance.

One coupon per purchaseThe help center is explicit: you cannot stack two coupons on one order. When you hold several, the system applies whichever is cheapest for that order, and you can switch manually. To use two, split the order in two.

Payment: only one method works everywhere with no fee

The coupon handles the discount; you still pay the rest. LINE Gift offers several payment methods, and they are far from equivalent:

MethodCoverageFeeNotes
Credit card
(VISA / Mastercard)
All productsNoneThe only universal option. JCB and AMEX are not accepted.
PayPayEligible products onlyNoneUnavailable unless the product page supports it.
Carrier billing
(d払い / au PAY / SoftBank)
Eligible products only5%¥75 on a ¥1,500 order — it eats into the discount.
Konbini / Pay-easyEligible products onlyNoneRarely supported for e-gifts.
LINE PointsIf you hold anyStackable with the coupon and combinable with other methods.

The conclusion is simple: if you hold a VISA or Mastercard, pay with it. It works on everything, carries no surcharge, and still earns whatever your card pays back. Carrier billing is convenient, but its 5% fee cancels out a 5% coupon exactly.

Worth flagging for anyone reading older guides: LINE Pay shut down on April 30, 2025, so any walkthrough that tells you to pay with it is out of date.

If you have LINE Points sitting idle, this is the round to use them — the coupon takes the percentage off first, and points cover what is left. And if you have not signed up for PayPay yet, the referral below is worth grabbing while you are at it.

PayPay
PayPay Copy code → Enter in app to get ¥300!

Two separate expiry dates

The usual way people lose this coupon is by tracking only one clock. There are two, and they are independent.

First: the coupon windowRoughly one week (Sep 18, 23:59 for the Sep 12 round). The purchase has to be completed inside it; afterwards the coupon is gone.
Second: the e-gift’s own expiryThe ticket you bought carries its own deadline, set per product and often a few months out. Expired tickets are not refunded, extended or reissued.
Plus: a cap on coupons issuedThe terms note that the campaign ends once the issuance limit is reached, even if the stated window has not closed.

The safe habit is to decide what you are buying the same day you draw. As for the ticket’s own expiry, open it once after purchase and put the date in your calendar. Ten seconds of work, and it is the step that actually saves the money.

Abandon a checkout and the coupon disappears for about 30 minutesThis is documented behavior, not a bug. When a purchase is interrupted, the coupon is held and returns to My Page > Coupons after roughly 30 minutes. It is invisible in the meantime, which is why people panic and retry. Wait it out — and do not experiment with this in the final hour before the deadline.

Will your friends see the three hearts?

Fair question, given that you are tapping hearts on three random products purely to enter. The answer: it depends which list you pick, and you can undo it.

Per LINE Gift’s official blog, there are two wishlists:

ListWho can see itDetail
ほしいものリスト
(friend-visible)
All your friendsLINE notes that every friend sees the same list, even if you use sub-profiles.
マイリスト
(My List)
Only youDescribed officially as a private list that only you can view.

Tapping the heart brings up a list picker, so choosing マイリスト keeps it private. Already added something to the public list? Tap the ♡ again to remove it. Clearing up after the draw takes a few seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Q. I did not get 70%. Is it still worth buying?
Depends on the tier. At 5% you save ¥250 on ¥5,000, so buying something you did not need, just to put the coupon to use, is a loss. If you already had a gift or a meal in mind, ¥250 costs you nothing to take. From 10% upward it is usually worth using. The test is simple: would you have bought it without the coupon?
Q. How many times can one person enter?
Once per round, resolved instantly, with no re-draws. There are four separate rounds between September 11 and 21, though, and each is its own chance — so up to four entries in total. A second account will not help: accounts without a registered phone number cannot receive coupons, and neither can another account tied to the same phone number or the same device.
Q. Why is there no Shopping tab in my LINE?
LINE has been replacing the VOOM tab with Shopping in stages since September 2025. The rollout is pushed by LINE and there is no user setting to turn it on or off. If yours still says VOOM, you are outside this round and will have to wait for the switch to reach your account.
Q. Can the coupon be combined with LINE Points?
Yes. LINE Points and coupons can be used together, and with other payment methods. What you cannot do is stack two coupons — one coupon per purchase.
Q. Can I buy a ¥5,000 Amazon gift card with it?
No. LINE Gift’s help center lists “all gift certificates, vouchers and store-credit tickets” as products where coupons cannot be used, and Amazon appears separately on the list of excluded shops. Ineligible products display “この商品はクーポンの対象外です” on the product page.
Q. Do I have to send it to someone, or can I buy it for myself?
Buying for yourself is fine. The campaign table lists 利用区分 (usage category) as 自分・友だち宛 — yourself or a friend — and LINE Gift has a dedicated “buy for myself” button.
Q. Do I get change if I do not use the full value?
No. E-gifts are generally one use per ticket, no change given and no balance carried over. If the bill exceeds the face value, you simply pay the difference at the register.
Q. Where do I find the coupon I won?
In LINE Gift under My Page > Coupons. That screen shows the coupons you hold, their expiry dates, and each one’s conditions — minimum spend, eligible brands, eligible recipients.
Q. I quit mid-checkout and my coupon vanished.
An interrupted purchase locks the coupon temporarily. The help center says it returns to My Page > Coupons after about 30 minutes, so give it a little time.
Q. Can friends tell that I tapped “ほしい”?
Tapping the heart opens a list picker. Choose マイリスト and only you can see it; choose the friend-visible ほしいものリスト and all your friends see the same list. Either way, tapping ♡ again removes the item.

Six ways people lose money on this

1. Chasing certificatesAugust’s rounds tied the coupon to one specific voucher. The broad rounds follow the general rule, and every kind of certificate is excluded.
2. Winning 70% and spending ¥2,000The discount is a percentage capped at ¥5,000. Leaving the cap unused throws away the difference.
3. Watching only the coupon clockThe ticket you buy has its own expiry, with no refund or extension. This is where the real losses happen.
4. Paying by carrier billingA 5% fee. On a 5% or 10% coupon that is most of your discount gone.
5. No phone number on the accountUnverified accounts cannot receive coupons at all, which makes the draw pointless. Sort it out first.
6. Tapping hearts in the wrong placeThe terms require items on the lottery page. Hearts tapped on ordinary product pages do not count toward the three.

Strip away the packaging and this is a randomized discount voucher designed to pull you into one LINE Gift order. It is free to enter, nobody loses, and you can spend it on yourself — all genuinely good. But the odds are undisclosed and the spending boundary is drawn tightly. Enter with something you were already going to buy in mind, treat a big pull as a bonus, and this kind of campaign stays worth your time.

If you would rather not leave savings to a draw, raising your everyday rebate rate is the steadier play. Our beginner’s guide to point sites is the starting point, and the Welkatsu routine (an effective 33% off on the 20th of every month) is the classic exit for the points you collect. Current Amazon, Rakuten and Yahoo! deals are tracked daily on Mottoku and in our sales category.
