and you can move it to your bank
It is dressed up as free shipping for an anime collab, but what actually lands in the app is 880 yen of COIN+ balance. Link a bank account and you can withdraw it from 1 yen up, with no fee.

What you actually get: 880 yen you can spend anywhere
The campaign is a tie-up between Broccoli Online and AirWallet built around Uta no Prince-sama LIVE EMOTION, and it is run by Recruit MUFG Business — the joint venture between Recruit and MUFG Bank.
The landing page leads with “shipping effectively free”, surrounded by a wall of anime artwork, which makes it look like a deal you can only use if you buy merchandise. That reading is wrong, and the terms say so plainly. The Japanese text promises a gift code worth 880 yen of COIN+ balance, described as equivalent to the 880 yen shipping fee, and then adds that the benefit is credited to your COIN+ balance rather than discounted at checkout — the shipping comparison is only there to explain the amount.
「特典はCOIN+残高へ加算されます。お会計時に送料が直接値引きされるものではなく…」Source: campaign terms (応募規約), section 企画概要, checked 11 September 2026
What that balance can do is set out on the official limits page: withdrawals to a bank account start at 1 yen per transaction and cost nothing. The whole 880 yen can go straight back to your own account. The gift-code page on the COIN+ site is even titled, in Japanese, “collect the COIN+ balance you can move to your bank account fee-free”.
There is a second, separate reward: spend 5,000 yen or more (tax included) at Broccoli Online using the AirWallet Visa virtual card and you get a 1.5th-anniversary postcard, shipping around late December 2026. That one does need a purchase. Skipping it costs you nothing.
Claiming it: three steps, about ten minutes
The terms list exactly three conditions, and the order matters.
- Add the AirWallet LINE official account from the campaign page, then finish LINE verificationYou have to go through the campaign page. Searching for the account in LINE and adding it yourself does not count. The page walks you into the verification step straight afterwards.
- Install AirWallet and create a COIN+ accountIt is on both the App Store and Google Play; the official short link is coinplus.go.link/jH372. This stage only needs a phone number and a password — identity verification comes later. The sign-up screen asks for an invite code, so put one in here if you also want the 300 yen from section 6 (you can still add it later under Settings and Account).
Already have the app? You do not need a new account. The terms confirm that people who downloaded the app and created a COIN+ account before the campaign started are still eligible. - Tap “apply gift code” on the page you land on after LINE verification, and enter the codeThat screen is where the code appears. It cannot be reissued — the terms are explicit about this — so screenshot it before you go anywhere near the app.
The catch for foreign residents: your ID card
The help centre does have a section written for non-Japanese nationals, and it points at the My Number Card route. Which of the two flows you take depends on whether you set a signature certificate PIN (six to sixteen alphanumeric characters) when you picked the card up:
Entering a non-Japanese name
This is where applications get bounced, and the rules are buried in the help centre rather than shown in the app.
- Field order is inverted. The official instruction is to put your first name in the surname field, and your middle and last names in the given-name field. It looks wrong. Do it anyway.
- Length caps. Twenty characters for the kanji name field, thirty for the katakana one. If your name is longer, fill it in from the start until you run out of room rather than abbreviating.
- Unsupported characters. If you get an error about characters that cannot be used, the fix is to write that character in hiragana instead.
- Name, address and date of birth have to match the document exactly, or you get sent back with a “please correct your details” message.
One more practical note, because chip reading fails constantly: turn off airplane mode, unplug charging cables and headphones, take the phone case off, and move away from anything metal. On iPhone, hold the top edge of the phone against the middle of the card and keep still for five to ten seconds. On Android, find the NFC mark on the back and line it up with the centre of the card.
Getting the money into your bank account
COIN+ comes in two tiers, and the free one cannot move money. Registering a bank account is what upgrades you, and identity verification is bundled into that step.
| What you can do | COIN+ Lite | COIN+ Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Receive gift codes, pay in shops | Yes | Yes |
| Top up from a bank account | No | From 1 yen |
| Withdraw to a bank account | No | From 1 yen |
| Send money to someone else | No | From 1 yen |
| Visa card cap, per transaction | 30,000 yen (virtual only) | 100,000 yen (real card too) |
Source: the official COIN+ limits page. The balance ceiling is 300,000 yen on both tiers.
Once you are on Standard, withdrawals can land immediately. The instant withdrawal feature applies when all three of these are true:
When it applies, the transfer completes as soon as you confirm — weekends and public holidays included — and the fee is still zero.
Seven banks that miss out on instant withdrawal
Awkwardly, that list covers most of the online banks foreign residents tend to open first. They are still supported for withdrawals — you just go on the normal schedule, and it still costs nothing. Docomo SMTB Net Bank, incidentally, is the new name for SBI Sumishin Net Bank as of 3 August 2026.
| When your withdrawal request goes in | Expected transfer date |
|---|---|
| Before 10:00 on a weekday (excluding weekends, holidays and 31 Dec to 3 Jan) | That afternoon |
| Any other time | The afternoon of the next business day |
Request it on a Friday evening and you are waiting until Monday. The help centre also says schedules cannot be brought forward on request. When the money arrives, your statement will show コインプラス (Coin Plus) as the sender.
If none of your current accounts qualify for instant withdrawal, it may be worth reading the comparison of Japan’s megabanks and online banks before opening another one. MUFG Bank is the one to pick if you also want the top-up bonus described below.
Other campaigns worth stacking right now
Since you are installing the app and verifying anyway, the rest of what Recruit has running is worth collecting in the same sitting. The deadlines do not line up — two of them close on 28 September.
| Campaign | Amount | Main conditions | Closes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anime collab, LINE friend-add | 880 yen | Add on LINE, then enter the gift code | 26 Oct 23:59 |
| Invite code (as the invitee) | 300 yen | Code at sign-up, plus bank account, Recruit ID link and completed verification | 28 Sep 23:59 |
| Monthly first sign-up bonus | 2,000 yen | New users only. Register for the campaign, verify, and top up 15,000 yen in total | 28 Sep 23:59 |
| MUFG Bank first top-up | Up to 5,000 yen | Register, then make your first top-up from an MUFG account (30,000 yen or more for the lot) | 31 Mar 2027 |
| 15% back on QR payments | Capped at 500 yen | Register, then pay by QR at a participating shop | 30 Sep 23:59 |

All five together come to 8,680 yen. Four things that trip people up:
- Registering for the campaign comes first. The bottom four all need you to press the entry button with your Recruit ID before you do anything else. There is no retroactive fix.
- Payment is slow. The invite and sign-up bonuses are scheduled for late October 2026; the MUFG one lands around the end of the month after you qualify. Nothing has gone wrong if your balance stays flat for a few weeks.
- The 2,000 yen excludes repeat claimers. Its terms rule out anyone who has already had an identity-verification bonus, or who is getting one through another campaign. If that is you, the 300 yen invite bonus still stands.
- Mind the 300,000 yen ceiling. Anything that would push your balance past it simply is not credited. Withdraw first if you are close.
Invite code
Recruit’s own referral programme pays 300 yen to each side and runs from 25 August to 28 September 2026. The code goes in on the sign-up screen, though you can catch up afterwards under Settings and Account, then “invite code”. Feel free to use mine:
cfp2us7Enter it during sign-up and you both get 300 yen
What AirWallet is actually good for
Plenty of people take the 880 yen and delete the app, which is a reasonable choice. It is worth thirty seconds to check what it does first, because the useful part is not the campaigns. AirWallet is a transfer app from Recruit MUFG Business, the Recruit and MUFG Bank joint venture, and COIN+ is the payment brand behind it. The selling point is that the fees are zero.
The first card is the one that matters if you live here. Rent leaving one bank while your salary lands in another is a common setup, and a domestic transfer between them normally costs 100 to 400 yen a go. Through AirWallet it is free. Japan’s banks also run their own free small-value transfer scheme; how the two compare is covered in the guide to Kotora transfers.
The limits table also lists salary receipt, so the app is set up for digital payroll. The “quick loan” entry in the menu is an unrelated optional service and has nothing to do with this campaign.
Which bank is easiest to link
Forty-two institutions can be registered as of 3 August 2026, including all the megabanks, Japan Post Bank, the main online banks and a long list of regional banks. What differs is how much you need in front of you when you start.
| Bank | What you need to hand | Effort |
|---|---|---|
| Japan Post Bank (ゆうちょ) | Symbol and account number, the phone number on file, card PIN | Easiest (no one-time password) |
| MUFG Bank | Branch and account number, card PIN, one-time password | Moderate |
| SMBC | Branch and account number, first PIN, one-time password | Moderate |
| Mizuho | Customer number, login password, second PIN | Moderate |
| Rakuten Bank | User ID, password, PIN, security phrase, one-time key by email | Most steps |
| Resona group | Requires the Mygate app and transaction authentication set up beforehand | Needs prep |
If the goal is simply to get 880 yen back into a bank, Japan Post Bank is the path of least resistance — the only one on the list with no one-time password, and it supports instant withdrawal. Go with MUFG instead if you also want the top-up bonus. One quirk worth knowing: JRE Bank holders should select “Rakuten Bank” in the menu, and branch names written in Latin letters have to be entered as full-width characters.
If you are opening an account anyway, most come with a sign-up bonus of their own. Worth a look: SMBC Olive, JRE Bank for the 40% off shinkansen vouchers, and Dai-ichi Life NEOBANK, which pays 1,500 yen just to open.
Questions people ask
- Q. Do I really get the 880 yen without buying anything?
- Yes. The LINE friend-add reward has three conditions only: add the official account from the campaign page, install the app and create a COIN+ account, and enter the gift code. Buying something is a condition of the postcard reward, which is separate.
- Q. I already use AirWallet. Am I eligible?
- Yes. The terms state that people who downloaded the app and created their COIN+ account before the campaign began still qualify. The only exclusion is having previously received the same kind of reward from an AirWallet LINE campaign.
- Q. How quickly does the money reach my bank?
- Immediately, if all three instant-withdrawal conditions are met: a supported bank, 100,000 yen or less, and an up-to-date app. That holds on weekends and holidays too. Otherwise it is the same afternoon for requests before 10:00 on a weekday, and the next business day afternoon for everything else.
- Q. I only have Rakuten Bank or PayPay Bank. Can I still withdraw?
- Yes, and still free. You just do not get instant withdrawal. The excluded banks are Rakuten Bank, PayPay Bank, Docomo SMTB Net Bank, au Jibun Bank, AEON Bank, Shiga Bank and Miyazaki Bank.
- Q. Can I verify my identity with a residence card?
- No. The COIN+ help centre accepts a My Number Card or a Japanese driver’s licence and nothing else. There is a dedicated section for non-Japanese nationals, and it routes you through My Number Card chip reading.
- Q. Where does the invite code go, and when is it paid?
- On the sign-up screen, or afterwards under Settings and Account then “invite code”. The current programme closes at 23:59 on 28 September 2026, pays 300 yen to each side, and credits COIN+ balances around late October 2026.
- Q. Can I stack the 880 yen with the invite and new-user bonuses?
- They are separate campaigns with non-overlapping conditions, and none of the official pages rule the others out. The exception is the 2,000 yen bonus, which excludes anyone who has already received an identity-verification reward or is receiving one through another campaign. In that case you keep the 880 yen, the 300 yen invite bonus and the MUFG top-up.
- Q. What can get my reward cancelled?
- The published list covers not meeting the conditions, claiming through multiple LINE or COIN+ accounts, having the official LINE account blocked when the reward is issued, closing your COIN+ account during the period, abandoning identity verification after applying, repeatedly unlinking and relinking bank accounts, and continuing extreme top-up or withdrawal patterns after being asked to stop.

If you are just starting to collect one-off bonuses like this in Japan, the beginner’s guide to point earning is the place to get the lay of the land. For larger sums, the two biggest on this site are the Rakuten Mobile employee referral at 14,000 points for a number port, and the Marriott Bonvoy Amex Premium referral. Neither conflicts with this one.
For somewhere to spend it, daily deals for Rakuten, Amazon and Yahoo! Shopping are updated here every day. AirWallet’s previous round of campaigns is still on record if you want a sense of how often these come around.
