Chiikawa × Tokyo Skytree Collab: Cafe, Goods and Visit Guide

Key Takeaways: Chiikawa is back at Tokyo Skytree until 31 October 2026, with an island story route on the 450-metre Tembo Galleria, a six-minute film every night in the Round Theater and character-themed tower lighting. The exhibits need an observatory ticket, while the island cafe requires a meal-voucher ticket bought by 23:59 the day before. Event goods are sold only at SKYTREE SPACE on the ground floor and online.

Chiikawa is back at Tokyo Skytree. This is the second collaboration between the tower and the characters, and the first in three years. It is timed to the film Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island (映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ), which opened in cinemas across Japan on 24 July 2026 and adapts the popular Siren arc of the manga.

The event runs until 31 October 2026, so there are about five weeks left as of 27 September. The short version: the exhibits need an observatory ticket, the cafe needs a separate ticket bought by the night before, and the goods are sold only on the ground floor and online. Details below.

The island route, floor by floor

The main exhibit sits on the Tembo Galleria, 450 metres up. The displays use artwork made just for this event and follow a story: you board a ship, land on a secret island, and end up tangled in the movie’s Siren plot. Here is the order you walk through it.

💡 Bring your own plush. The plush toys in the promotional images are for illustration only and are not placed at the displays. No Chiikawa goods are sold inside the observatories either, so if you want plush photos with the island sets, pack your favourite before you leave home. Expect queues at busy times.

Photo service and message magnets

On Floor 445 there is an event-only photo service. Staff take your picture with the characters, with the view from the galleria behind you, and the print comes in an event-limited mount.

The characters are cardboard standees, and part of
the background is composited.

There is also a hands-on wall: write a message of support on a star-shaped magnet and stick it on the board. The idea is for visitors to fill the whole board together over the event period.

After dark: theater show and tower lighting

Two parts of the event only work at night, which is a good reason to plan your visit for the evening.

  • SKYTREE ROUND THEATER® on the Tembo Deck, Floor 350, turns the windows into one huge screen. It uses 24 projectors and 13 speakers, and it shows a special Chiikawa film every night. Each screening lasts about six minutes. There is no 19:30 screening on 8, 14, 21 and 22 October, and shows can be cancelled depending on other events or observatory operations. The full timetable is on the official page.
  • Special tower lighting is switched on at night. Designs inspired by each character change roughly every 100 seconds, so you can watch it from the ground around the tower too.

The island cafe and its meal-voucher ticket

SKYTREE CAFE on Tembo Deck Floor 340 becomes an island-themed cafe with a Chiikawa menu. The catch is how you get in: you cannot order the event menu without an observatory ticket that includes a meal voucher, and that ticket must be bought by 23:59 on the day before your visit. Walking up on the day does not work, even if tables are empty.

Food and sweets are also on the menu; see the official site for the full line-up. No takeaway, and each person can order one of each menu item per visit.

Cafe bonuses

  • One original coaster for every event menu item you order (8 designs, random).
  • One signboard-style clip when your order reaches 4,000 yen (tax included). One per person; a table of two ordering 8,000 yen or more gets two. Separate bills and combining receipts are not allowed.
  • Both bonuses are limited and end when stock runs out.

⚠️ Rules that catch people out: the voucher is valid only on the date shown; no additional guests and no cancellations. Each group orders once, with no additional orders, and pays as one bill. If you order less than the voucher value, no change is given. Preschool children using a seat must be counted in the cafe booking (observatory entry is free for them). Event goods and purchase bonuses

The goods use the original artwork drawn for this event. You can buy them in two places only: SKYTREE SPACE on the ground floor and the Chiikawa Market online shop (on sale since 10 July, 11:00). Chiikawa Land on the 3rd floor of Tokyo Solamachi East Yard does not sell these items.

Bonuses at SKYTREE SPACE

  • Spend 3,300 yen (tax included) or more in one transaction and your goods come in an original shopper bag.
  • Visit the observatory and, on the same day, spend 1,100 yen (tax included) or more in one transaction at SKYTREE SPACE to get a hard card case (8 designs, random).
  • Online orders do not get either bonus. Stock is limited.

Getting into SKYTREE SPACE

Since 13 July the shop has been open from Tokyo Skytree’s opening time until 21:00, and you no longer need an observatory ticket to shop. On some dates, entry is limited through first-come bookings on the LINE account Chiikawa Nagano Characters Ticket (ちいかわ・ナガノキャラクターズチケット), using the mogily service.

  • Slots up to 12:30: bookings open at 19:00 the day before.
  • Slots from 13:00: bookings open on the day from 12:00, one hour before each slot (for a 13:30 slot, from 12:30).
  • Each visit is 30 minutes with a full changeover, and you can enter once per day.
  • A booking does not guarantee that items or bonuses will still be available.

Tips before you go

  1. Book the cafe first. It is the only part with a hard deadline and a first-come sale. If you want the cafe, secure the meal-voucher ticket before anything else, and do it by 23:59 the night before.
  2. Go in the evening. A late-afternoon entry lets you see the galleria in daylight, then catch the theater show and the tower lighting after dark. Avoid 19:30 on 8, 14, 21 and 22 October if the theater is your priority.
  3. Shop on the same day as the observatory. The hard card case bonus needs a same-day observatory visit, so plan the ground-floor shop after your trip up.
  4. Pack a plush. None are set out at the displays, and none are sold upstairs.
  5. Allow for queues. Waits can be long when it is busy, and the October half-term and holiday weekends are likely to be crowded.

FAQ

Q. Do I need a ticket for the Chiikawa exhibits at Tokyo Skytree?
Yes. The displays on the Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria are inside the observatories, so you need an observatory admission ticket. Check the current price on the Tokyo Skytree website. Since 13 July, the ground-floor SKYTREE SPACE goods shop has been open to visitors without an observatory ticket.
Q. Can I just walk into the Chiikawa cafe?
Not for the event menu. You must buy the observatory ticket with a meal voucher by 23:59 on the day before your visit. Even if seats are free on the day, the limited menu cannot be ordered without it.
Q. Are Chiikawa goods sold on the observation decks?
No. Event goods are sold only at SKYTREE SPACE on the ground floor and in the Chiikawa Market online shop. Chiikawa Land at Tokyo Solamachi East Yard 3F does not carry the event goods.
Q. How much is the character photo on Floor 445?
A print costs 1,800 yen and comes in an event-limited mount. Joining the shoot is free; you only pay if you buy the print.
Q. When does the Round Theater show the Chiikawa film?
It is a night-only show of about six minutes per screening on Floor 350. There is no 19:30 screening on 8, 14, 21 and 22 October. See the official site for the full timetable.
