Ghibli Park Exhibition Guide: Osaka, Yokosuka and Kyoto

Key Takeaways: The Ghibli Park Exhibition is a hands-on touring show that packs the fun of Ghibli Park into one hall, from a board-game-style Little Ghibli Park to a giant 3D sculpture of Haku. It runs at Osaka’s ATC Gallery through Sep 26, 2026, then moves to the Yokosuka Museum of Art from Feb 11, 2027. Osaka admits by timed-entry ticket only, with no sales at the door.

The Ghibli Park Exhibition is a touring, hands-on show that squeezes the fun of Ghibli Park into a single venue. Its first stop is the ATC Gallery in Osaka Nanko (Jul 18 – Sep 26, 2026), and it moves to the Yokosuka Museum of Art in Kanagawa from Feb 11, 2027.

Using the official Osaka website and press release, this guide covers what is on show and how tickets work. It also covers Zen and Ghibli, a related exhibition opening in Kyoto on Oct 3, including its prices and the best-value advance tickets.

What is the Ghibli Park Exhibition?

Ghibli Park opened in 2022 inside the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park (Moricoro Park) in Nagakute, Aichi. Its five areas recreate the worlds of Studio Ghibli films and are spread across a large park, so you explore them on foot.

An earlier touring show, the Ghibli Park and Ghibli Exhibition (2022–2025), told the behind-the-scenes story of the park through production materials and prototypes. It visited 10 venues and drew about 1.7 million people.

The new Ghibli Park Exhibition takes a different angle: it is built to be played in. The organisers describe it as a travelling fairground that packs the fun of the park into one hall, with things for adults and kids alike to “look at, touch and wander around”. Its tagline translates roughly as “You won’t know until you come.”

Highlights of the Osaka show

The official site picks out four main sections.

Little Ghibli Park

This section lets you tour the park’s five areas like a board game. It is modelled on the Children’s Town inside Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse: the floor is laid out as squares styled after the park’s posters, and you are the playing piece. You can photograph the buildings and scenery or try the games set up along the way.

“Drawing Food” (expanded edition)

A popular exhibit from the Grand Warehouse has left the park for this tour. Why do meals in Ghibli films look so good? Storyboards, background art and other production materials, plus 3D pieces based on eating scenes, show how the animators pulled it off.

Step into famous scenes

The second exhibit on loan from the park lets you play a character and stand inside a famous scene, including ones from Porco Rosso and When Marnie Was There, and take photos.

A giant Haku

Haku in his dragon form from Spirited Away has been turned into a huge 3D sculpture, which the official site calls one of the symbols of the show.

This autumn in Kyoto: Zen and Ghibli

The exhibition’s own site points visitors to Kyoto this autumn, where Zen and Ghibli (禅とジブリ) opens at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art on October 3. It grew out of the book Zen and Ghibli, a set of conversations between Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki and Zen monks. The show is built around Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film, The Boy and the Heron (2023), and uses famous lines, film stills and Suzuki’s calligraphy to bring out the Zen way of seeing that runs through Ghibli’s work.
