PayPay referrals: 300 points each when you qualify
Enter the code first, then complete one eligible payment of ¥1,000 or more. Both must be within 60 days of signup.
The PayPay referral code (also called an invitation code) 02-WR01JRF is for eligible new users of PayPay in Japan. Register the code, then complete one eligible payment of at least ¥1,000 including tax, all within 60 days of opening your account. The standard reward is 300 PayPay Points each for you and the person who referred you. Entering a code alone does not earn the reward.
Forgot to enter a code when signing up? You may still be eligible within that original 60-day window. This site may also receive a referral reward when you qualify. See the official PayPay referral offer for the conditions.

Before you start: a Japanese phone number and a way to pay
PayPay registration requires a Japanese mobile number that can receive the verification SMS. An overseas number cannot be used for this step. A data-only travel eSIM that cannot receive the required SMS will not solve that requirement. See PayPay’s registration requirements.
You do not need an account at Seven Bank or Lawson Bank to use their supported ATMs for cash top-ups. PayPay provides fee-free cash top-ups at those ATMs. Adding balance is only preparation: it is not the qualifying purchase. This guide concerns PayPay Japan’s referral offer, not PayPal or a gift-code offer.
How to enter the PayPay referral code
- Open アカウント (Account) at the bottom right of the PayPay app.
- Choose 友だちを紹介する (Refer a friend), then 紹介を受けた方 (For referred users).
- Enter 02-WR01JRF in the referral-code field and register it.
- Check the registration and progress on that screen before making your qualifying purchase.
Some guidance labels the feature 友だち紹介特典. Code entry is also available during signup. However, PayPay warns that a code may not carry over when signing up through a Yahoo! JAPAN ID, SoftBank or Y!mobile account. Check it inside the app rather than assuming it was saved.

The standard offer covers eligible accounts newly registered from June 5, 2024 at 09:00. The exact deadline is 59 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes after the registration timestamp. It does not reset when you enter the code. Both code registration and completed payment must fit within the original window.

The ¥1,000 rule: one completed payment, not a total
A single eligible ¥1,200 purchase after code registration meets the amount requirement. Separate ¥600 and ¥400 purchases do not. A balance top-up or a transfer to a friend does not replace a merchant purchase.
- Eligible methods are PayPay Balance, PayPay Points, PayPay Balance Card and PayPay Credit (PayPay残高・PayPayポイント・PayPay残高カード・PayPayクレジット).
- Payments using PayPay Debit with PayPay Points are excluded, including an all-points payment made through that method.
- Some merchants and payment categories are excluded, including taxes and public charges, insurance-covered medical care and dispensing pharmacies, and railways. Accepting PayPay does not automatically make a merchant eligible.
Check the standard referral terms (PDF) before relying on an unusual payment category. The 300-point bonus is not an ongoing 30% cashback rate, and other PayPay rewards do not necessarily stack in full.
When do the points arrive? What to check if they do not
The standard 300-point reward is normally credited 30 days after the day following qualification. It is not an instant payment discount. PayPay Points cannot be withdrawn as cash or transferred to another person.
- Code saved? Check Account → 友だちを紹介する → 紹介を受けた方.
- Correct order? The purchase must follow code registration.
- One eligible purchase? Check the amount, payment method and excluded merchants.
- Completed in time? 支払い受付 means the payment is pending. It must reach 支払い完了 within 60 days of signup, including for online orders.
- Any refund? If a refund brings the qualifying payment below ¥1,000, the reward is cancelled. After cancellation finishes, you must complete another qualifying payment within the original deadline.
If the expected date has passed, use the contact option on PayPay’s official help page with your registration date, code status and transaction details. Closing the account before the reward is issued also disqualifies it. Timing is set out in the standard reward terms.
Referring your own friends: verification and monthly limits
The person referring others must complete identity verification. If your own code is missing, check that verification is approved; PayPay says eligibility can take another 4–24 hours to appear after approval.
The standard referrer reward is 300 points per qualifying friend, up to 10 friends and 3,000 points per month. Friends count when they meet the conditions, not when you send them the code. Even beyond that limit, new users can still use the code and receive their own reward if eligible.

Why do some offers say 500 points? The separate U18 bonus
The standard offer is 300 points each. A separate youth offer can add 200 points each when a referrer aged 18 or over refers an eligible user aged 12–18. Qualifying for both offers makes the total 500 each; it is not a universal 500-point signup bonus.
The youth offer requires signup during its campaign and both code registration and completed identity verification within 60 days of signup. Submitting an ID application is not enough. It is also possible to qualify only for the 200-point component without meeting the standard purchase condition; the two rewards have separate conditions.
Rule change from November 1, 2026: the age test changes from age at identity-verification completion to age at PayPay signup. For the additional 200 points, users who registered the code or completed identity verification by October 31 remain on the earlier schedule, normally the month after qualification or the following month. Otherwise, the revised schedule is normally 30 days after the day following qualification.
The youth referrer limit is 10 people over the campaign, separate from the standard monthly limit. Check the official November 1 change notice and revised youth terms (PDF) before relying on the extra points.

Where do I enter a PayPay referral code?
In the PayPay app, open アカウント (Account), then 友だちを紹介する (Refer a friend), then 紹介を受けた方 (For referred users). Enter and register the code there. You can also enter it during signup.
Can I add a PayPay referral code after registration?
Yes, if you are an eligible new user still within 60 days of signup. The qualifying payment after code registration must also be completed within that same original 60-day period.
Does a payment made before entering the code count?
No. Register the code first, then complete a new eligible payment of at least ¥1,000 including tax before your original 60-day deadline.
Can I combine a ¥600 and a ¥400 payment?
No. The requirement is one payment of at least ¥1,000 including tax, not a combined spending total.
When will I get the 300 PayPay referral points?
The standard reward is normally credited 30 days after the day following qualification. A payment marked 支払い受付 is still pending; it must reach 支払い完了 to qualify.
Can a long-time PayPay user receive this signup reward?
An account opened more than 60 days ago is outside the standard referred-user window. An existing user can instead complete identity verification and refer eligible new users.
What if the referrer has already reached the monthly limit?
The code still works for eligible new users. The referrer is limited to 10 qualifying referrals and 3,000 points per month, but the 11th and later referred users can still receive their own reward.
Is this a PayPay Points Code?
No. This is a friend referral code, not a PayPay Points Code for redeeming a points gift. Use the friend referral screen, not the points-code redemption screen.
Register the code and check that it appears in the app before paying. Using a purchase you already planned to make is more useful than buying something extra just to earn 300 points.
