Oz Travel EXPO 2026: a weekend fair for finding your next trip in Japan
Free entry Seven regional booths, snacks, workshops, quizzes and first-come freebies

If you’re looking for ideas for your next trip within Japan, there’s a free fair in Marunouchi next weekend that could help. Oz Travel EXPO 2026 (オズの旅EXPO2026) is run by the publisher behind Oz Magazine and the Ozmall website. It takes over Marucube on the first floor of the Marunouchi Building on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The fair started in 2013, and this is its 11th edition. The idea is simple. Prefectures and inns set up booths where you can talk to travel staff, try snacks, join small workshops and pick up travel goods. Entry is free, and you only pay for what you buy.

The organizer’s theme for this year is discovery that inspires travel: see, hear and touch your way to your next destination. In practice, that means travel consultation booths, snacks for sale, hands-on workshops and travel goods.

The seven regional booths

Each booth has something to take home or do, and several give away freebies on a first-come basis. Here’s what each one offers:

#RegionWhat you can do
01AomoriGet tips on winter food and sightseeing spots, and pick up the latest Aomori Kiko (あおもり紀行) official brochure. Answer a survey for an apple snack (first come, first served).
02KochiBuy Kochi Karuta (高知カルタ), a card game about local quirks written in a 5-7-5 rhythm. A tourism concierge from the Marugoto Kochi (まるごと高知) antenna shop will also be there.
03Nagano & Tochigi innsTake on a tricky travel quiz devised by staff at Shinshu no Yu Seifuen (信州の湯 清風園) and Yukemuri no Sato Kashiwaya (湯けむりの里 柏屋). Answer everything correctly to enter a garapon lottery draw. Every participant gets a small gift, and event-only stay plans are on offer.
04Tokyo IslandsAnswer a few questions in an island-matching quiz to find which of Tokyo’s 11 islands suits you, and get a diagnosis card. Participants receive island souvenirs (first come, first served).
05NaraLearn about the Asuka-Fujiwara capital sites (飛鳥・藤原の宮都), inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2026, plus other Nara sightseeing spots. On Oct 30, Emi Adachi (安達えみ), known as Hotoke Joshi, recommends Buddha statues, temples and shrines to suit you.
06FukuiSee a photo display of spots the Oz Reporters found in Fukui, now as close as 2 hours 49 minutes from Tokyo since the Hokuriku Shinkansen extension. Vote for your favorite spot to get a Fukui snack (first come, first served).
07ChibaMake a can badge at a workshop for two art festivals held next March: Boso International Arts Festival Art×Mix 2027 (房総国際芸術祭 アート×ミックス2027) and Sora Mizu Sora Art Festival (空・水・空芸術祭). Related goods and artwork pass vouchers are on sale. Chiba-kun visits on Oct 30 only.

Booth details are as announced by the organizer and may change.

If one of the booths gets you planning a trip to the southwest, the JAL Kyushu flight + hotel discount we covered is worth a look. For hotel stays, see the current Marriott Bonvoy points promotion.

Free Toto tote bag: the keyword hunt

Keywords are hidden at the booths around the venue. Collect them as you go, enter them, and answer the survey. You then get a tote bag featuring Toto, the official character of Oz Magazine.

The tote bags are limited and end when they run out. If you want one, don’t leave it until late on Saturday.

The hunt is also a good way to make sure you visit every booth, so you won’t miss the snack and souvenir giveaways along the way.

Friday or Saturday? What’s different

Two things happen only on Friday, October 30:

  • Chiba-kun, Chiba’s mascot, visits the Chiba booth.
  • Emi Adachi (Hotoke Joshi) joins the Nara booth to suggest Buddha statues, temples and shrines that suit you.

Friday is also open an hour longer (until 19:00), which helps if you’re coming after work. Saturday closes at 18:00. If you go on Saturday, keep in mind that limited items handed out first come, first served may already be gone.

Want to make it a full weekend out? The Musashino Art University Festival 2026 also falls around this time. For other discounted days out, see the Asoview campaign with up to ¥3,000 off.

Tips before you go

  • Go early for freebies. The apple snack (Aomori), island souvenirs (Tokyo Islands), Fukui snack and Toto tote bag are all limited or first come, first served. Items for sale and novelties also end when stock runs out.
  • Budget for snacks and goods. Entry is free, but snacks, Kochi Karuta, art festival goods and pass vouchers cost money. Accepted payment methods weren’t listed in the announcement, so check the official page. If you’re still setting up cashless payments, our guide to credit cards in Japan for foreigners covers where to start.
  • Expect cameras. The organizer will film and photograph the event, and the footage may appear in Ozmall, Oz Magazine and other media.
  • Plans can change. The program and items for sale may change, so check the official page on the day.
  • Planning a long day out? If your phone battery runs low, free ChargeSPOT power bank rentals with d VALUE PASS can help.
