Japan’s convenience stores regularly run “1-ko kau to, 1-ko moraeru” (buy one, get one) deals. You buy a listed item and a free-item coupon is printed on your receipt. Bring it back during the exchange window and you walk out with a different listed item for ¥0. No sign-up needed. This week Lawson has three, FamilyMart has one, and both chains are running a few similar coupon deals on the side.

This week’s deals at a glance
Product names are left in Japanese, the way they appear on store price tags, so you can match them on the shelf.
| Store | Buy (any one) | Get free | Exchange window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lawson | Meiji Essel Super Cup (Cho Vanilla / Choco Cookie) | Meiji Bulgaria Frozen Yogurt Dessert 85ml | Oct 13–19 |
| Lawson | Wilkinson Tansan Extra 490ml / Calpis Koime 490ml (600ml bonus size also counts) | Calpis Soda Emerald Muscat 450ml | Oct 13–26 |
| Lawson | Hepalyse Ichoh Drink / Hepalyse W Premium Kiwami / Hepalyse W tablets | Hepalyse W tablets (2-tablet pack) | Oct 13–19 |
| FamilyMart | Suntory Tennensui Kiritto Kajitsu, Grape & Peach 600ml | Kiritto Kajitsu, Pink Grapefruit & Muscat 600ml | Oct 13 (7am) – 19 |
For all four, you buy between October 6 (Tue) and October 12 (Mon). The receipt coupons start working the following Tuesday; at FamilyMart, from 7am on October 13.
Lawson: buy Super Cup ice cream, get Bulgaria frozen yogurt

- Buy
- Meiji Essel Super Cup, Cho Vanilla 200ml or Choco Cookie 200ml (¥194 each)
- Get
- Meiji Bulgaria Frozen Yogurt Dessert 85ml (¥194)
- Exchange
- October 13 (Tue) – October 19 (Mon)
- Not at
- Natural Lawson, Lawson Store 100, L Mini Mart
Super Cup is the classic tub ice cream you’ll find in every konbini freezer. The free item is a frozen yogurt bar made with Meiji’s Bulgaria yogurt, on the lighter side. Both list at ¥194, so if you want both, each one works out to half price.
Lawson: buy Wilkinson or Calpis, get Calpis Soda

- Buy
- Asahi Wilkinson Tansan Extra 490ml (¥135) or Asahi Calpis Koime 490ml (¥183; the 600ml bonus size also counts)
- Get
- Asahi Calpis Soda Emerald Muscat 450ml (¥183)
- Exchange
- October 13 (Tue) – October 26 (Mon), the longest window this week
If you buy the Wilkinson (unsweetened sparkling water), you pay ¥135 and get a ¥183 bottle back, so the free item is worth more than what you bought. A good pick if you drink sparkling water anyway.
Lawson: buy Hepalyse, get Hepalyse W tablets

- Buy
- Zeria Hepalyse Ichoh Drink 50ml (¥438) / Hepalyse W Premium Kiwami 100ml (¥950) / Hepalyse W tablets, 2-pack (¥200)
- Get
- Hepalyse W tablets, 2-pack (¥200)
- Exchange
- October 13 (Tue) – October 19 (Mon)
- Not at
- Lawson Store 100, L Mini Mart
Hepalyse is a popular Japanese liver-extract supplement line that many people pick up around drinking nights. Whichever of the three you buy, you get the same one pack of tablets, so the ¥950 drink doesn’t earn you anything extra. Buying the tablets to get the tablets is the efficient move: two packs for the price of one.
FamilyMart: buy one Kiritto Kajitsu, get another flavor

Images: FamilyMart official site, “1-ko kau to, 1-ko moraeru”
- Buy
- Suntory Tennensui Kiritto Kajitsu, 2-shu no Budo & Momo (Grape & Peach) 600ml
- Get
- Suntory Tennensui Kiritto Kajitsu, Pink Grapefruit & Muscat 600ml
- Exchange
- October 13 (Tue) from 7am – October 19 (Mon)
Kiritto Kajitsu is Suntory’s fruit-flavored line built on its Tennensui mineral water. This is FamilyMart’s only receipt-coupon pair this week. The official page notes that the start time may vary slightly by store.
Other free-coupon deals the same week
Separate from the buy-one-get-one lineup, both chains are running “buy this, get a coupon for that” deals this week. Worth knowing if they overlap with what you buy anyway.

- Notes
- The coupon can take about 6 hours to appear. Hot drinks excluded. “Oishii Meneki Care + Double Vitamin 100ml” doesn’t count
For how to charge FamiPay and stack its rewards, see our FamiPay guide. If you’re signing up now, you can use the invite code below.
How to redeem
- Buy a listed item during the issue periodJust pay at the register as usual. No sign-up, no app needed (except for the FamiPay deal).
- Keep the receiptThe free coupon is printed on it, one per item bought. Lawson’s site says up to 30 coupons per purchase; FamilyMart’s page doesn’t give a limit.
- Bring the free item and the receipt to the registerDuring the exchange window, hand both to the cashier and you pay ¥0. Lawson’s site says you can redeem at any Lawson store, not only the one that issued the coupon.
Things to know before you go
- Coupons are for takeout only. If you eat in, the 10% tax rate applies and the coupon only covers the 8%-rate price, so you pay the difference.
- Paying with Lawson’s “Smartphone Register” (self-checkout app) doesn’t qualify.
- Coupons without the issuing store code and date printed at the bottom are invalid, as are forged or resold ones.
- Some stores don’t carry the items, and the free item can sell out, so don’t leave it to the last day.
- Prices are Lawson’s standard prices including tax; some stores may differ. In-store notices take priority.
Which deals are the best value
- Wilkinson → Calpis Soda: pay ¥135, get a ¥183 bottle. The only pair where the free item costs more.
- Hepalyse W tablets → Hepalyse W tablets: same product twice, effectively half price.
- Super Cup → Bulgaria: both ¥194, effectively half price each.
- Pasta or gratin → Gogo no Kocha: if you already buy Lawson pasta for lunch, that’s a free 500ml tea, usable the same day.
- FamilyMart app deal: you get the same group of drink you bought, so if Ayataka or Sokenbicha is already your usual, it’s simply two for one.
Coupons from last week (Sep 29 – Oct 5) at Lawson may still be valid: Lawson’s site lists the “Energy drink: get one free” deal through Oct 12 and the “Drinks: get one free” deal through Oct 19. Worth checking the receipts in your wallet.
FAQ
- Q. Can I redeem on the same day I buy?
- Not for the four main pairs: Lawson’s ice cream, drinks and supplements, and FamilyMart’s Kiritto Kajitsu start on October 13 (FamilyMart from 7am). Lawson’s pasta → tea and bread → coffee deals and FamilyMart’s nori bento → Oi Ocha deal can be used the same day.
- Q. If I buy several, do I get several coupons?
- Yes, one per item. Lawson caps it at 30 per purchase; FamilyMart’s page doesn’t list a cap.
- Q. Can I redeem at a different store?
- At Lawson, yes, any Lawson store. FamilyMart’s page doesn’t say, so the issuing store is the safe choice.
- Q. What if I lose the receipt?
- The receipt is the coupon, so it can’t be used. The FamiPay deal sends the coupon to the app, so there’s nothing to lose.
- Q. Does every Lawson take part?
- The ice cream deal excludes Natural Lawson, Lawson Store 100 and L Mini Mart. The supplement, pasta and bread deals exclude Lawson Store 100 and L Mini Mart. The drinks deal lists no excluded store types, but some stores don’t stock the items.
