Many items are capped at 30 to 200 a day and tend to sell out.

About 70 Hokkaido shops for 13 days, with a weekly-changing eat-in area

Kyoto Takashimaya is running its Great Hokkaido Fair (大北海道展) from Wednesday, October 14 to Monday, October 26, 2026. Around 70 shops from across Hokkaido set up in the 7th-floor event hall, and some of them change over halfway through, so what you can buy in the first week is not exactly what you will find in the second.

This year’s two themes, chosen by Takashimaya’s Hokkaido-based buyer, are scallops (hotate) and corn (tokibi). On top of that, the store is marking 80 years at Shijo Kawaramachi on December 21, 2026, and its Kyoto buyer has put together limited bento plus a line-up of adzuki bean and milk sweets for the occasion. Below is what is on sale, when, and how much, so you can decide which week to go.

Raw Hokkaido scallops

The scallops are the headline item. According to Takashimaya, they are shucked on the day they are landed and shipped without freezing, so you get the sweetness and tender texture of fresh scallops rather than thawed ones.

Biei corn breads, pizza and sweets

The second theme is corn from Biei, a Hokkaido town famous for its produce. The big day–night temperature swings there are what give the corn its sweetness, and the fair turns it into bread, pizza, croquettes and desserts.

Tips before you go

A few things worth knowing
  • Pick your week. The ramen, sushi, the scallop bento from Kura and the Nama Northman are first-half items; the anniversary bento, LeTAO parfait and Rishiri ramen are second-half items.
  • Go early for limited items. Many things are capped per day (30 to 200 pieces) and sell out.
  • Watch the short days. On October 20 and October 26 the hall closes at 5:00 pm and the eat-in at 4:30 pm.
  • Prices include tax. Some products also use ingredients from outside Hokkaido, and photos are serving suggestions.
  • Not sure about something? Call Kyoto Takashimaya at 075-221-8811.
