Tomato ramen chain Taiyo no Tomato Men runs this once a year for Tomato Day (October 10). Eat a bowl of ramen in the shop on Oct 9–11 and each person gets one coupon for a free bowl of its signature Taiyo no Ramen on a later visit. The coupon is valid until November 30.

The chain is run by Ippinko Co., Ltd. in Yokohama, part of the Eat&Holdings group best known for the Osaka Ohsho gyoza chain. The same promotion ran on the same dates in 2025, with coupons valid until November 30, so it’s a regular fixture in October.
How it works, step by step
- Eat a bowl of ramen in the shop between Oct 9 and Oct 11No app, no registration. Takeout and delivery don’t count, so you need to eat in.
- Get your coupon at the registerThe poster says one coupon per person per bowl eaten. Coupons are limited and end when they run out.
- Come back before Nov 30 and hand it overOrder Taiyo no Ramen and give the coupon to the staff, and that bowl is free. It works only at the shops listed on the back of the coupon, and only for eating in.
What the coupon gets you
The free bowl is the house classic, Taiyo no Ramen: a bright red soup made with ripe Italian tomatoes, topped with chicken and leafy greens. The chain says one bowl holds the lycopene of about three tomatoes.
The coupon itself says you can’t pay the difference to switch dishes, so you can’t upgrade to the cheese ramen or any other bowl. If you want a different flavor, you order it at the normal price.
The fine print
- Dine-in only. No coupon for takeout ramen, frozen ramen or delivery, and the coupon can only be used when eating in.
- Taiyo no Ramen only. No paying the difference for another bowl.
- One coupon, one person. It can’t be combined with other coupons or discounts.
- No new coupon when you redeem one. If you use a coupon during Oct 9–11, that bowl won’t earn another.
- The free extra-cheese service is paused on Oct 9–11.
- Coupons are limited and end when they’re gone.
- Check the expiry on the back of the coupon (the poster says November 30, 2026).
Tips to get the most out of it
- Collect during the festival, redeem from Oct 12. Redeeming during the three days means no new coupon, so pick one up first and come back afterwards.
- Order your favorite on the first visit. The coupon only covers Taiyo no Ramen, so the first visit is the time for the cheese ramen or anything else you like (the extra-cheese service is paused on these days).
- Going as a group? It’s one coupon per person, so everyone who eats gets their own.
- Finish with “ra-rizo”. A popular way to end the meal is adding rice to the leftover tomato soup to make a risotto-style dish (rice is ordered separately).
- Beat the lunch rush. The “with Cheese” shops inside AEON Malls open at 10:00, and most other shops open at 11:00.
Never tried tomato ramen? Taiyo no Tomato Men started in Kinshicho, Tokyo and turns 20 this year. The soup is a low-fat chicken broth blended with tomato, the noodles contain soy milk, and the greens are a low-pesticide variety called Edona. It’s tangier and lighter than tonkotsu or shoyu ramen, and the plain Taiyo no Ramen, the one the coupon covers, is the easiest place to start.

Anime fans may recognize it
Taiyo no Tomato Men appeared in episode 5 of the 2018 TV anime Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles (Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san). That April and May the chain ran an official collaboration with the show, with a limited “Aburi Cheese Super Vongole” ramen and original postcards, and the collaboration is still listed in the brand history on the official site.
The coupon in this year’s Tomato Festival is for the standard Taiyo no Ramen, not the old collaboration bowl.
