Key takeawaysKameoka hosts two free music events in early November 2026. The jazz festival on November 3 runs 10 a.m.–5 p.m. with 32 acts across five stages near JR Kameoka Station, plus 11 local food stalls. On November 7, eight school and community wind bands play Kameoka Sports Park Gymnasium from noon to 4 p.m., closing with a joint finale.

Looking for a music outing near Kyoto without an admission charge? Kameoka has two options in early November: jazz around JR Kameoka Station on November 3, followed by a wind band festival on November 7. Both are free to enter, but they take place on different dates and at different venues.

The jazz festival suits a day of moving between stages and browsing food stalls. The wind band festival brings school and community ensembles together in a gymnasium, ending with a performance by all eight groups.

Dos Orientales pairs Uruguayan musician Hugo Fattoruso with percussionist Tomohiro Yahiro. Their performance brings jazz together with candombe, a musical tradition developed by Afro-descendant communities in Montevideo.

Food is another reason to explore the main venue area, where 11 stalls will feature Kameoka produce and local specialties. Free admission does not mean free food; menu prices are not included in the announcement.

Getting to Kameoka and checking access

According to Kameoka City, the journey from JR Kyoto Station to Kameoka takes about 20 minutes by rapid train. That makes the station-area jazz festival an option for an outing from Kyoto.

The train journey is not the full trip to the gymnasium. The announcement does not give onward transport details for Kameoka Sports Park Gymnasium. Check venue access separately before attending the November 7 festival.

Both festivals are linked with the 43rd National Urban Greenery Fair in Kyoto Tamba (第43回全国都市緑化フェアin京都丹波), whose hub venues include Hozugawa Park and Kameoka Sports Park.

For another cultural outing to research, see our Ghibli Park exhibition guide covering Kyoto, Osaka and Yokosuka. Check each location’s dates separately before adding it to your plans.

For practical day-out preparation, our d VALUE PASS and ChargeSPOT guide explains the power bank rental service. If you are also planning paid attractions, the Asoview campaign guide is a separate reference; check its current dates and eligibility.
