What the festival is

The Tokyo Vegan Gourmet Festival 2026 (東京ビーガングルメ祭り2026) is a food festival built entirely around vegan and plant-based eating. The organizers describe it as one of the largest events of its kind in Japan.

You do not need to be vegan to enjoy it. Most people come for the same reason they go to any food festival: to graze from stall to stall and try things they would not cook at home. The difference here is that nothing on offer is meant to use animal products, which makes it an easy day out if you eat plant-based, or if you are simply curious.

Oizumi Kojo (大泉工場), a company based in Kawaguchi, Saitama, has announced it will run booth No. 32. It brews its own organic kombucha and runs plant-based cafes, and it is bringing two of its brands to the festival: the _SHIP KOMBUCHA sparkling tea and ZEN BOWL rice bowls.

Kombucha is tea fermented with a culture of bacteria and yeast, often called a SCOBY. The result is lightly fizzy and pleasantly tart. Oizumi Kojo says _SHIP KOMBUCHA is made without fruit juice, flavorings or preservatives, and that it is not heat-treated after brewing, to keep the flavor of the tea leaves intact.

ZEN BOWL is a rice bowl built on fermented brown rice cooked with other ingredients, topped with 100% plant-based food. The idea comes from shojin ryori, the traditional cooking of Buddhist temples. In that spirit the bowls skip gokun, a group of strongly scented ingredients such as garlic chives, garlic, rakkyo, green onion and asatsuki. That is worth knowing if you avoid alliums.

BowlPrice (tax incl.)
Grilled mushroom¥1,200
Spicy katsu curry¥1,200
Kurumabu lu rou fan
(wheat gluten, braised-pork style)
¥1,200
Tofu hamburg steak¥1,200

The bowls come from the team behind the Greenlit Kitchen Nishiazabu account on Instagram, where you can see photos of the dishes.

Before you go

This guide is based on a press release published on October 2, 2026. Details can change without notice. Admission, payment methods and access are not covered in it, so check the official festival site or its Instagram on the morning of the event.
  • Bring a backup way to pay. Stalls at outdoor festivals vary in what they accept. Carrying some cash alongside a card is the safe choice. If you are still setting up payments in Japan, see our guide to credit cards foreigners can get first.
  • Know where you are heading. Oizumi Kojo is at booth No. 32. A look at the layout map above before you arrive saves wandering.
  • The set is day-only. The ¥1,700 kombucha and bowl set is sold at the festival only.
  • Make an afternoon of it. After a day outside, a public bath is a cheap way to unwind. Our guide to the Tokyo sento half-price coupon covers how that works.

If you enjoy waterside events around Tokyo Bay, the Shibaura Canal Festival guide shows the kind of free local festival worth watching for next year too.
