Temaki rice balls first, then Ginshari Musubi

The short version: dates, items and prices
7-Eleven Japan is running an Onigiri Just Price Sale (おにぎりジャストプライスセール) at stores nationwide from Thursday, October 1 to Sunday, October 4, 2026. Selected rice balls drop to a single flat price. The first two days and the last two days cover different items, so pick your day by what you want to eat.
| Dates | Items | Sale price |
|---|---|---|
| Oct 1 (Thu) Oct 2 (Fri) | Temaki onigiri 5 kinds | ¥150 before tax ¥162 incl. tax |
| Oct 3 (Sat) Oct 4 (Sun) | Ginshari Musubi 6 kinds | ¥100 before tax ¥108 incl. tax |
The discount is taken off 7-Eleven’s standard pre-tax price, so the pricier fillings save you the most.
Oct 1–2: five temaki onigiri for ¥150
Temaki onigiri (手巻おにぎり) are the classic triangle rice balls with the nori kept in a separate film until you open them, so it stays crisp. The biggest savings are on the salmon and mentaiko, normally ¥198 each, which are ¥48 off.

Oct 3–4: six Ginshari Musubi for ¥100
Ginshari Musubi (銀しゃりむすび) is a line 7-Eleven started rolling out nationwide on June 23, 2026. It is made without nori, so the rice itself is the point. 7-Eleven says over 85 million were sold between June and September 20. All six go to ¥100, including the plain salted one that is usually ¥135.

Before you go
- Coupons work, other discounts do not. The sale can’t be combined with other discount promotions, but coupon discounts can be applied on top.
- Tax-included prices assume takeout (8%). Eating in the store’s eat-in space is taxed at 10%, so ¥150 becomes ¥165 and ¥100 becomes ¥110.
- Some stores carry different items, and product specs or names can vary by region. Check the shelf, or look up your area on the official Sales Area page (Japanese).
- Items can sell out, and some stores may not stock every flavor.
- 7NOW delivery is partly excluded. Some in-store sales don’t apply on the 7NOW app or website, and some 7NOW-only deals don’t apply in stores.
- Details may change. Check 7-Eleven’s official site for the latest.
Paying a little less
On top of the sale price, how you pay can earn you some points back:
- SMBC (Sumitomo Mitsui) cards: 7-Eleven is an eligible store, and paying by Visa or Mastercard tap on your smartphone earns up to 7% back. Tapping the physical card, iD, inserting the card or swiping does not count. Some stores (such as those inside shopping complexes) are excluded, and above a certain amount (generally ¥10,000) you may be asked to insert the card, which also doesn’t count. The rate for Olive Flexible Pay in credit mode is set separately; see SMBC Card’s official page (Japanese).
- Coupons: this sale stacks with coupon discounts, so have yours ready before you pay.
If you don’t have an SMBC card or Olive account yet:
Why onigiri are getting cheaper
7-Eleven says it wants to help shoppers who are cutting back after a long stretch of rising prices. Rice prices have also come down, and convenience stores have been trimming onigiri prices one after another. According to Jiji Press, 7-Eleven cut two temaki onigiri, including mentaiko, by ¥19 from September 8, and Lawson lowered prices on 20 items from September 29.
7-Eleven also held an Onigiri and Sushi Super Sale in March, but that one used price bands (¥100, ¥150 and ¥200), ran only from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., and excluded Hokkaido. This time the items are fixed, and the press release gives no time window.
