Two things to do — enter the campaign and switch on one email setting. Häagen-Dazs, a Seven Premium waffle cone and a Seven Cafe drink then arrive by email, one at a time. Entry period: 3 August – 30 September 2026.
The coupon lands on Thursday 20 August, but you must finish both conditions by Wednesday 12 August. Mistake those two dates for each other and you simply lose the Häagen-Dazs round. Entry plus the email setting takes about five minutes — the safest move is to do it right after reading this.

What “Olive Day” actually is
SMBC (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation) launched this campaign for Olive account holders on 3 August 2026 (campaign ID: CP05173). In three lines:
- Everyone with an Olive account qualifies. It is not a lottery — meet the conditions and you get it (including people who open or switch to Olive during the campaign period).
- All you do is enter and turn on the “商品・サービス情報” (product & service info) email setting. There is no spending requirement.
- On 20 August, 10 September and 8 October, a 7-Eleven coupon arrives by email. Those three dates are the “Olive Days”.
According to SMBC’s press release, the theme is Japan’s summer heat spending: citing a Teikoku Databank survey, households are expected to spend roughly ¥3,512 more per month because of the heat, so the bank put together perks usable at around 22,000 7-Eleven stores nationwide. Ice cream and coffee, returned in the season you buy the most of them.
For context, Olive is SMBC’s all-in-one service that combines a bank account, credit, debit and points payment into a single card (plus one app), launched in March 2023. If you already use it, this campaign is essentially flipping one switch in the app.
The three coupons and the schedule
Four products qualify: Mini Cup in Vanilla, Strawberry and Green Tea, plus Crispy Sandwich The Rich Caramel. Pick any one.
A single specified product, so there is nothing to choose here.
All Seven Cafe and Seven Cafe Tea products qualify. Anything priced at ¥130 (excl. tax) or less is effectively free; ¥131 (excl. tax) and above gets ¥130 off the standard pre-tax price.
| Coupon | What you get | Condition deadline | Delivery date (Olive Day) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coupon 1 | One eligible Häagen-Dazs, free | By Wed 12 August | Thu 20 August, around 10:00 |
| Coupon 2 | Seven Premium Waffle Cone Rich Milk, free | By Wed 2 September | Thu 10 September, around 10:00 |
| Coupon 3 | ¥130 off any one Seven Cafe drink | By Wed 30 September | Thu 8 October, around 10:00 |
Read the table vertically and the pattern is obvious: every condition deadline falls eight days before the coupon is sent. So “I’ll set it up the day before Olive Day” does not work — you need it done by the start of that week.
Seven Cafe pricing varies by size and drink. Choose something at ¥130 (excl. tax) or below and you pay nothing; choose something pricier and you pay the difference. Seven Cafe Smoothies, baked goods, bakery items and doughnuts are excluded. The discount applies after other markdowns such as “エコだ値”, and it cannot be combined with other coupons.
Only two conditions (entry + email setting)
People who newly open or switch to Olive during the campaign period also qualify.
Either from the SMBC app or a web browser — one is enough. Entering once covers all three coupons; there is no per-coupon entry. Make sure you enter the details of the account tied to your Olive contract. Wrong details mean you are excluded.
Set it in the SMBC app or in SMBC Direct (online banking) — either works. The coupons are delivered through this email channel, so nothing arrives while it is off.
Delivered to your registered address at around 10:00 on each date.
Always confirm the entry link and the current conditions on the official campaign page.
Use the “今すぐエントリー” (enter now) button on the Olive Day campaign page. The entry period runs from Monday 3 August to Wednesday 30 September 2026.
Open the official campaign page →Turning on the email setting in the SMBC app
- Tap 「メニュー」 (Menu) at the bottom right of the SMBC app, then 「メールアドレス」 (email address).
- Tap 「メールの通知設定やその他アドレスの登録・変更・削除」 (email notification settings / register, change, delete addresses).
- Tick 「商品・サービス情報」 (product & service info) and tap 「次へ」 (next).
- Check the summary and tap 「登録・変更の実行」 (execute registration/change). You are done when it shows 「商品・サービス情報:受け取る」 (receive).
Because the coupons arrive by email, the real enemies are the spam folder and a full mailbox. As the settings screen itself notes, if you use carrier domain filtering, add “dn.smbc.co.jp” to your allowed domains. Undelivered coupons are not re-sent. Once you are done, it is worth confirming that ordinary bank notification emails really do arrive.
Using the coupon without wasting it
The mechanics are simple: (1) open the URL in the email, (2) pick the eligible product in a 7-Eleven store, (3) show the coupon screen at the register. No app install, no membership registration.
Two things trip people up in practice:
- Validity is 10 days including the day it is issued. A coupon sent on 20 August expires on 29 August. “I’ll do it at the weekend” is how these die — set a phone reminder the moment it lands.
- Stores run out, or never stocked it. For coupon 1 in particular, not every store carries all four Häagen-Dazs variants. There is no extension if you fail to use it in time, so check stock in the 7-Eleven app before you walk over.
If you also want the convenience-store points side of the equation, see our nanaco and 7&i ecosystem guide — the same purchase can return noticeably more.
Traps that cost people the reward
- The condition deadline is not the delivery date. 12 Aug, 2 Sep and 30 Sep respectively; miss one and that round is gone.
- Turning the email setting off before the delivery date disqualifies you. It is not “enter once and you’re free” — keep it on until the third coupon on 8 October.
- You must still be an Olive member on each condition deadline. Cancelling, or switching Olive because of an account or card-type change, can void the reward.
- Enter the correct account details — they must belong to your Olive contract.
- One coupon per person per round, no re-issue, and no extension of the expiry date.
- Some stores do not support web coupons, and coupons cannot be combined with other coupons.
- Reselling or auctioning coupons is prohibited, as stated on the official page.
Avoid those seven and you will not lose anything. The one worth putting in your calendar is simply: the deadline is eight days before the coupon arrives.
If you don’t have an Olive account yet
Opening or switching during the campaign period still qualifies. However, SMBC states that account opening can take one to two weeks, so applying now may not make the 12 August deadline for coupon 1. The realistic targets are coupon 2 (deadline 2 September) and coupon 3 (deadline 30 September); treat coupon 1 as a bonus if it happens.
Olive itself is more than a coupon vehicle: one card that switches between credit, debit, points payment and cash card (“Flexible Pay”), a monthly choice of perks (V Point Up Program +1%, free convenience-store ATM withdrawal, salary/pension deposit bonus and so on), plus an SBI Securities link-up. It is the entry point to the V Point ecosystem. For the full picture of SMBC and Olive as a bank, see our SMBC + Olive guide for foreigners in Japan; to compare the big three, see the Japanese megabank comparison.
Check application requirements, documents and current campaigns on the official page (terms can change). Opening through our referral code also gets you ¥1,000相当 — the code is at the bottom of this article.
Official Olive account page →If opening a bank account feels like too much, the card side is an easier start: the permanently free SMBC Card (NL) guide explains how the convenience-store rewards work and how it differs from Olive. We also handle referral requests for SMBC Card (NL / CL / Gold / Platinum) — use SMBC Card if you want the card’s sign-up bonus too (a separate channel from opening an Olive account). Still comparing? The Mitsubishi UFJ Card guide and Kotora instant transfers (free) are useful reference points.
While you’re at it: raise your 7-Eleven cashback
Coupons come a few times a year; how you pay every day matters more. SMBC states that paying at 7-Eleven with Olive smartphone contactless gives up to 11% back in V Points (“いつでも、だれでも” — a standing benefit for Olive holders, as of 4 August 2026).
The catch worth memorising: physical-card contactless, iD, chip insertion and magnetic-stripe transactions do not count. It has to be contactless from your phone. Without that setup you end up in the worst state — holding the card and earning nothing. The exact breakdown (the V Point Up Program conditions, the Seven Miles you get by showing your member code in the 7-Eleven app) and the caps depend on your situation, so check which lines apply to you on the official V Point Up Program page.
To strengthen the earning side, credit-card fund accumulation is the classic route — see the credit card tsumitate guide. To think about the spending side as well, pair it with Welcia’s 20th-of-the-month “Welkatsu”, which usually beats chasing individual campaigns.
