AirWALLET New User Bonus: Get ¥2,000 by Oct 31, Plus 20% Back on Amazon with the Visa Card

Key takeawaysNew AirWALLET users who get their ID check approved and top up ¥15,000 in total by October 31 receive ¥2,000 in COIN+ balance, with no lottery. Stacking the 20% Visa offer, the 15% QR offer and a referral code brings the maximum to ¥3,500 plus 300 Ponta points. Users don’t need to spend the full ¥15,000 and can withdraw what’s left to their bank for free.

Last updated: (checked against the official Recruit ID campaign pages and the COIN+ FAQ)

If you have never used AirWALLET, this month is a good time to start. Verify your ID and top up a total of ¥15,000 in the app by Saturday, October 31, and you get ¥2,000 in COIN+ balance. It is not a lottery – everyone who meets the conditions receives it.

Three other offers run at the same time. Pay with AirWALLET’s Visa virtual card for the first time and get 20% back on Amazon and other online shops (up to ¥1,000). Pay by QR code or barcode at convenience stores and other shops for 15% back (up to ¥500). Finish ID verification by Monday, October 26 and the referral code adds 300 Ponta points. Stack all four and you get ¥3,500 in balance plus 300 points.

You don’t have to spend the whole ¥15,000 – whatever is left can be withdrawn to your own bank account free of charge. Below are the conditions, the order to do things in and the common mistakes. The slow part is the ID check (same day to about a week), so submit it as soon as you can.

What AirWALLET is: a fee-free money app from Recruit and MUFG

AirWALLET is a payment and money transfer app run by Recruit MUFG Business, a company backed by Recruit and MUFG Bank. Your money sits in the app as COIN+ balance. In practice it works like a wallet that moves money in and out of your bank for free:

  • Top-ups from your bank and withdrawals to your own account cost ¥0 (withdrawals requested by 10 a.m. on a bank business day arrive the same day; some banks support instant withdrawals)
  • Pay at 500,000+ shops nationwide that show the COIN+ logo, by showing a barcode in the app or scanning the shop’s QR code
  • Since March 2026 there is also a Visa prepaid card. The virtual card is issued in the app with no screening (in as little as 3 minutes) and works like a credit card at online shops such as Amazon. A physical card for in-store use costs ¥900 to issue, with no annual fee
  • Sending money to friends and family is free

Paying with COIN+ normally earns no points, so the value of AirWALLET is in campaigns like these. This month four new user offers overlap, which makes it the best time so far to sign up.

Four offers at a glance: up to ¥3,500 plus 300 points

The four offers are separate campaigns, and each one has its own entry page. Here is the full picture:

For example: top up ¥15,000, buy ¥5,000 of things you need on Amazon with the Visa virtual card (¥1,000 back), then pay ¥3,334 by QR code at a convenience store or MUJI (¥500 back). Keep the remaining ¥6,666 for later or withdraw it for free. The ¥2,000 offer only looks at how much you top up, so you don’t need to spend all ¥15,000.

Visa and QR rewards don’t stack on the same payment

Visa card payments don’t count toward the 15% QR offer, and QR payments don’t count toward the 20% Visa offer. The caps are separate, so use the Visa card online and QR codes in stores to max out both.

The ¥2,000 offer: conditions and who is excluded

The official name is “毎月の初回登録プレゼント” (monthly first registration gift). This round runs from 0:00 on Tuesday, September 29 to 23:59 on Saturday, October 31, 2026 (Japan time), and you must complete all of the following within that period:

  • Enter the campaign with your Recruit ID
  • In the AirWALLET app, register a bank account for the first time and get your ID check approved
  • Link your Recruit ID to your COIN+ account (it must be the same ID you used to enter)
  • Top up at least ¥15,000 in total from the AirWALLET app (one top-up or several)

Everyone who qualifies gets ¥2,000 in COIN+ balance, expected in late November. It doesn’t matter if you downloaded the app, created the account or linked your Recruit ID before the period started – what counts is that the ID check is done in this round.

Who can’t get the ¥2,000
  • People who did the ID check or topped up in another app such as the MUJI app (MUJI passport) or HOT PEPPER Beauty
  • People who entered MUFG Bank’s “COIN+初回チャージ企画” (first top-up campaign) on or after August 25, 2026
  • People who opened their COIN+ account through MUFG Bank’s “スマート口座開設” app (including applications made via apps such as Shiftboard or MDC)
  • People who have already received, or will receive, an ID verification reward from another campaign
  • People who close their account, unlink their Recruit ID or remove their bank account before the reward arrives

One more catch: once you enter this campaign, you can no longer get rewards from other campaigns in the same period that also require an ID check – whether or not you end up receiving the ¥2,000. If you bank with MUFG, there is a separate MUFG offer worth up to ¥5,000 for your first top-up from MUFG, and you can’t combine the two. We compare them in our AirWALLET campaign guide. The 300-point referral offer is officially allowed alongside the ¥2,000 offer.

ID check: My Number Card or driver’s license only

This is the part most foreign residents need to know. According to the COIN+ FAQ, the ID check accepts either a My Number Card or a Japanese driver’s license, and foreign nationals apply with a My Number Card. A residence card on its own is not enough.

  • The current method reads the IC chip in your card with your phone. If you remember the signature certificate PIN on your My Number Card (6–16 letters and numbers), you can use it; if not, the chip reading is combined with a face check
  • Reviews take from the same day to about a week, sometimes longer when applications pile up. Applications sent at night are usually reviewed the next day or later, and support can’t speed up individual cases
  • While the review is pending, most COIN+ features (including top-ups) are unavailable
  • You get a push notification when it’s approved, so keep notifications on

The ¥2,000 offer requires the review to be approved by October 31 – submitting it isn’t enough. The 300-point referral offer is even earlier: approved by October 26. Don’t wait for the weekend.

From entry to top-up in six steps

You can enter at any time during the period, even halfway through or after the other steps, but doing it first makes it hard to forget.

  1. Enter the ¥2,000 offerOpen the official Recruit ID campaign page, log in with your Recruit ID and press “エントリー”. If you don’t have a Recruit ID, you can create one for free on the spot.
  2. Install AirWALLET and create a COIN+ accountTap “アカウントの新規作成” and enter your phone number, the SMS code, a password, your name in katakana and a PIN. Enter ca4xwqe in the referral code field on the sign-up screen.
  3. Link your Recruit IDOpen “設定・アカウント” at the bottom of the app, then “各種ID連携”, tap “連携” next to Recruit ID and log in with the same ID as in step 1.
  4. Register a bank account and verify your IDTap “口座登録と本人確認へ進む”, choose and link your bank, then complete the ID check with your My Number Card or driver’s license.
  5. Top up ¥15,000 once you’re approvedWhen the approval notification arrives, tap “チャージ” on the home screen and top up from your registered bank account until you reach ¥15,000 or more by October 31.
  6. Enter the Visa 20% and QR 15% offersBoth entry pages are also on the official Recruit ID site. Press “エントリー” on each, then pay on Amazon and in stores.

20% back on Amazon with the Visa virtual card

AirWALLET official campaign image: pay for the first time at Amazon and other shops with the AirWALLET virtual card and get 20% back in COIN+ balance, up to 1,000 yen for everyone

This offer runs from Thursday, October 1 to Monday, November 2, 2026. It is for people who had never paid with the AirWALLET Visa card before the campaign started, so new users qualify automatically. After entry, the ID check and the Recruit ID link, you get 20% of your Visa payments back, up to ¥1,000 per person (reached at ¥5,000). Virtual and physical card payments are added together, and the reward arrives as COIN+ balance in early December.

To use it on Amazon:

  1. Issue the Visa virtual card in the app (no screening, a few minutes). The card number, expiry date and security code are shown in the app
  2. Add it under “お支払い方法” (payment methods) on Amazon, the same way you add a credit card
  3. Choose it at checkout. It is a prepaid card, so the payment fails if your balance is too low – check your COIN+ balance first
Amazon payments that don’t count
  • Amazon gift cards, Apple Gift Cards, Google Play cards and other vouchers, plus top-ups to e-money or other payment services
  • Subscription payments (recurring charges such as the Prime membership fee)
  • Returned or cancelled orders (exchanges may also be treated as returns)
  • Items that are easy to resell for cash, such as shinkansen tickets or precious metals, and financial products such as stocks or investment trusts

Payments are judged by when the card was used, but anything whose sales data doesn’t reach the card issuer within 30 days after the campaign ends is excluded. Pre-orders and items that ship much later are better paid another way.

Two more groups are excluded: (1) people who, from October 2 onward, see the bonus challenge “Visaカードで2,000円以上/回の決済で1,000円分プレゼント” in the app (their payments from October 2 don’t count toward the 20%, but they can complete that challenge instead), and (2) people who finish the ID check between October 30 and November 20 and qualify for the special 10% offer for users aged 19 and under.

If you plan a bigger Amazon order, Amazon is also running a weekly entry campaign at the same time: Amazon Japan’s Weekly Prime Point Up. For daily deals, see Amazon deals (updated daily).

15% back with QR payments at stores like Lawson and MUJI

AirWALLET official campaign image: pay by QR code or barcode at eligible stores such as convenience stores and drugstores and get 15% back, open to new and existing users, up to 500 yen, entry required, October 1 to November 2, 2026
Open to both new and existing users.Source: Recruit ID official page “エアウォレットのQR決済で15%還元!” (screenshot taken October 25, 2026)

This one also runs from October 1 to November 2. After entry and the Recruit ID link, pay at eligible shops by QR code or barcode in the AirWALLET app (or COIN+ in the MUFG Bank app) and get 15% of your total back. The cap is ¥500 for the whole period, which you reach at ¥3,334 – not ¥500 per payment.

  • It works at 500,000+ shops with the COIN+ logo, such as Lawson and MUJI. Some shops are excluded, so check the official COIN+ store search and exclusion list before you go
  • At the register, say “コインプラスで” (with COIN+) or “QR決済で” and show the barcode in the app
  • Only the AirWALLET and MUFG Bank apps count. Paying with COIN+ inside the MUJI app doesn’t
  • Payments split with cash or a card don’t count

MUJI Week runs until November 3 with 10% off for members, and the 15% back applies on top of the member price. Details: MUJI Week stacking guide.

300 Ponta points with a referral code (until Oct 26)

This round of the referral program runs from September 29 to Monday, October 26. If the new user enters a referral code on the AirWALLET sign-up screen and, within the period, registers a bank account, gets the ID check approved and links a Recruit ID, both sides receive 300 Ponta points (expected in late November). To receive the points, your Recruit ID also has to be linked to a Ponta member ID.

Our referral code is ca4xwqe. With so little time left, you won’t get the 300 points if your ID check isn’t approved by the 26th. That doesn’t affect the ¥2,000 or the payment rewards, which you can still make in time.

Deadlines and when rewards arrive

DateWhat to do / what happens
Mon, Oct 26, 23:59Referral 300 points: ID check must be approved
Sat, Oct 31, 23:59¥2,000 offer: entry, approved ID check and ¥15,000 total top-up
Mon, Nov 2, 23:59Visa 20% and QR 15%: last day to enter and pay
Late November¥2,000 balance and 300 Ponta points expected
Early DecemberVisa 20% and QR 15% rewards expected

COIN+ balance is capped at ¥300,000, and a reward that would push you over the cap is not added. Until your rewards arrive, don’t close your account, unlink your Recruit ID or remove your bank account.

How people miss out

Common mistakes
  • Submitting the ID check but not getting it approved before the deadline
  • Entering with one Recruit ID and linking a different one in the app
  • Doing the ID check, top-up or QR payment in another app such as the MUJI app
  • Having only a residence card, with no My Number Card or driver’s license
  • Using the Visa card on Amazon for gift cards or the Prime fee
  • Expecting the Visa and QR rewards to stack on one payment
  • Closing the account, unlinking IDs or removing the bank account before rewards arrive

This article reflects the official terms as of October 25, 2026. Campaigns can change or end without notice, so check the official Recruit ID pages before you take part.

FAQ

Q. I already use AirWALLET. Can I still get the ¥2,000?
Usually not. The offer requires registering a bank account and completing the ID check for the first time during the period, and people who already received an ID check reward are excluded. Existing users can still join the 15% QR offer, and the 20% Visa offer if they never paid with the Visa card before October 1.
Q. What ID do I need?
Either a My Number Card or a Japanese driver’s license. Foreign nationals apply with a My Number Card; a residence card alone is not accepted.
Q. Do I have to top up ¥15,000 in one go?
No. You need at least ¥15,000 in total from the AirWALLET app during the period, and several smaller top-ups are fine.
Q. Do I have to spend the whole ¥15,000?
No. The ¥2,000 offer only looks at how much you top up, and any remaining balance can be withdrawn to your own bank account for free.
Q. Is it enough to submit the ID check by October 31?
No. The review has to be approved within the period. It takes from the same day to about a week, so submit early.
Q. Does an ID check done in the MUJI app count?
No. ID checks and top-ups done in apps other than AirWALLET, such as MUJI passport or HOT PEPPER Beauty, are excluded.
Q. Do Amazon gift card purchases get the 20% Visa reward?
No. Gift cards and other vouchers, e-money top-ups and subscription payments are excluded. Use it for products you actually need.
Q. Does a Visa payment also count toward the 15% QR offer?
No. Visa card payments are excluded from the QR offer, and each offer has its own cap.
Q. When do the rewards arrive?
The ¥2,000 balance and the 300 referral points are expected in late November, and the Visa 20% and QR 15% rewards in early December.
Q. Where do I enter the referral code?
On the sign-up screen when you create your account in the AirWALLET app. Our code is ca4xwqe. The 300 Ponta points require your ID check to be approved by October 26.
Q. I have an MUFG Bank account. Anything to watch out for?
If you entered MUFG’s COIN+ first top-up campaign on or after August 25, or opened your COIN+ account through MUFG’s smart account opening app, you can’t get the ¥2,000. The two offers can’t be combined, so pick one.
