Gong cha Japan has announced its New Year lucky bag (fukubukuro), the “Gong cha original HAPPINESS BAG 2027.” This year it is sold online only, on a first-come, first-served basis, and you order it inside Gong cha’s official LINE account.

General sales open at 12:00 on Friday, November 13, 2026. The price is ¥7,500 including tax and shipping: ¥700 cheaper than last year’s bag, with one more drink ticket (six instead of five).

Dates, price and purchase rules

Gong cha hasn’t said how many bags are available. Demand is real: according to Gourmet Watch, the 2024 bag sold out within two hours of opening. If you want one, be ready to order right at 12:00 on November 13.

What’s inside the Gong cha Lucky Bag 2027

Gong cha calls this its biggest lineup yet: six items, delivered inside an original tote bag.

• ① Jingdezhen porcelain mug with strainer (1)Made in Jingdezhen, China’s famous porcelain town. The built-in strainer and lid let you brew loose-leaf tea without a teapot. 85 mm across, 90 mm tall, 200 ml, printed with colorful Gong cha cup designs.
• ② TEACRAFT tea bag assortment (5 bags)Strawberry & Rose Darjeeling ×2, Muscat & Peach Dong Ding Oolong ×2, and Lychee Jasmine (lucky bag exclusive) ×1. 3 g each, best before July 2027.
• ③ Alishan oolong tea leaves (20 g)Gong cha’s signature tea, enough for 5–6 cups, best before October 2027. Brew it straight in the mug.
• ④ Original tote bag (1)39 cm tall × 37 cm wide × 12 cm deep, fits A4, thick fabric, with a divider, an inside pocket and a snap button at the top.
• ⑤ Gonchamu charm (1, random)2.8 cm square, one of five designs of Gong cha’s character “Gonchamu,” picked at random. Handy for marking your umbrella or bag.
• ⑥ My Gong cha digital drink tickets (6)Each ticket gets you one drink of your choice with up to three toppings. Gong cha puts the six at about ¥6,000. New this year, they are digital, so they also work for mobile orders and at self-checkout kiosks.

Is it worth it? Compared with the last two years

The only part with a clear yen value is the drink tickets. Gong cha says the six are worth about ¥6,000, so using all of them gets you roughly 80% of the price back. The other ¥1,500 or so covers the mug, the tea, the tote and the charm.

Compared with 2026, it’s ¥700 cheaper and the tickets are worth a bit more. The 2025 bag also had Jingdezhen strainer mugs (two, plus a teaspoon); this year there’s one colorful mug, with tea bags, a tote and a charm added instead.

Before you buy: what you need as a foreign resident

• A LINE account: My Gong cha runs inside Gong cha Japan’s official LINE account. There is no separate web shop or app; the order flow opens as a LINE mini app.
• A delivery address in Japan: the bag ships to the address you enter, and the tickets go to the same My Gong cha account.
• A credit card or PayPay: those are the only two payment options.
• Japanese screens: everything is in Japanese. The button names you need are listed in the steps below.

How to buy it in LINE (6 steps)

On a computer, scan the QR code on Gong cha’s official page with your phone and continue there.

1. Join My Gong cha in advance: add Gong cha’s official LINE account as a friend, tap “会員証” (membership card) in the menu at the bottom of the chat, enter your details and agree to the terms. Enter your real date of birth, since there’s a birthday perk.
2. At sale time, open the purchase page from the LINE chat: for the general sale, tap “HAPPINESS BAG 2027のご購入はこちら” (buy HAPPINESS BAG 2027 here). For the early sale, tap the purchase image sent to you on LINE.
3. Tap “購入する” (buy), then “注文手続きへ” (proceed to order): this takes you from the store page to the product page and into checkout.
4. Enter your delivery address and payment method: choose a credit card or PayPay, then tap “注文手続き” (place order).
5. Check your order and tap “注文を確定する” (confirm order): the purchase is complete only after this step.
6. Look for the confirmation: an order-complete notice arrives in “LINE ミニアプリ お知らせ” (LINE mini app notifications), and you’ll get an email when it ships.

Using and gifting the drink tickets

At the counter: in My Gong cha, tap “クーポン” (coupons) at the bottom, pick the ticket under “利用可” (available) and tap “クーポンを利用する” (use coupon). Show the barcode at the register, slide “利用する” (use) when the staff tell you, then tap “OK.” Once you slide, the ticket counts as used and can’t be undone.

Self-checkout or mobile order: choose your drink first, then pick the ticket on the order screen (at a kiosk, scan your membership card first).

Gifting a ticket

Open the ticket, tap “贈る” (give), copy the code and send it to the other person, who enters it in their own My Gong cha (they need to be a member). After you tap “贈る” you can’t cancel, and you can’t use that ticket yourself. The expiry date stays the same, and an unclaimed code becomes invalid when the ticket expires.

Early access, bonus points and other tips

① AMBASSADOR and LEGEND members get two days’ head start

My Gong cha gives 1 “leaf” per ¥100 spent (tax included). 250 leaves in total makes you AMBASSADOR, 500 makes you LEGEND, and both tiers get early access to the lucky bag. Your tier is checked as of November 9, and tiers never drop once reached. The early-sale purchase link is sent on LINE to eligible members by 12:00 on November 10.

② The bag itself earns leaves

Gong cha says the bag counts toward the leaf program, with leaves added from mid-January 2027 (not eligible for the bonus leaves on dates ending in 5). At 1 leaf per ¥100 that’s roughly 75 leaves, and 77 leaves can be swapped for a free drink ticket.

③ Spend tickets on pricier drinks with three toppings

Each ticket covers one drink and up to three toppings, so a large seasonal drink with all three toppings gets you the most out of each one.

Things to keep in mind

• No returns or exchanges for change of mind; defective items can be exchanged if you contact Gong cha within 30 days of delivery.
• Photos are for illustration: color and texture may differ, and specs can change without notice.
• The charm is random: you can’t choose which of the five you get.
• Not necessarily on Jan 1: Gong cha says bags ship “in turn from January 1.”

Yes. Tap “贈る” (give) on the ticket and send the code; the other person enters it in their own My Gong cha account. You can’t cancel once you’ve tapped “贈る.”
