Tokyu Plaza Kamata: Free Rooftop Halloween Movies and a Bread Festival

Key Takeaways: Tokyu Plaza Kamata, one minute from Kamata Station, hosts two free autumn events. Halloween films play on the rooftop lawn on 23 and 25 October 2026 from around 18:30, with about 150 first-come seats per night. On 31 October and 1 November, bakeries from Tokyo, Kanagawa and Yamaguchi fill the 7th floor from 10:00 to 17:00, with free entry.

Tokyu Plaza Kamata, the shopping centre right next to Kamata Station in Ota City, is running two free events this autumn. First come two evenings of open-air movies on the rooftop lawn. The following weekend, the 7th floor fills up with bakeries and bread-themed goods. Both events are part of the centre’s community slogan Kamata Shiyouze (カマタしようぜ!), which started in 2025.

The Halloween Movie Night (ハロウィン映画しようぜ!) turns the rooftop lawn of Kamataen into an open-air cinema for two evenings. The idea is simple: lie back on the grass with family or friends and watch a film under the autumn sky. There is no charge.

Each night shows a different film, both with a light Halloween or family feel:

Sun 25 Oct 2026The Addams Family (アダムス・ファミリー)18:30 (planned)
The announcement does not say whether the films are shown dubbed in Japanese or with subtitles. If language matters to you, check the official Tokyu Plaza Kamata website before you go.

How to get a seat and what happens if it rains

There is no booking. Seats go to whoever turns up first, and there are only about 150 places per night, so do not leave it to the last minute.

  1. Go up to the rooftop garden Kamataen at Tokyu Plaza Kamata.
  2. Answer the short questionnaire at the Kamataen entrance. This is required to take part.
  3. Find a spot on the lawn and wait for the film to start at around 18:30.
Rain rules
If it is raining at 15:00 on the day, that evening’s screening is cancelled. If rain starts during the film, the screening stops. If it rained earlier and the lawn is still wet, chairs are set out and the film goes ahead. The centre posts updates on its official website.

Outdoor evenings in late October can drain a phone fast if you are using it as a torch or for photos. If you have a docomo-linked account, the d VALUE PASS free ChargeSPOT rental guide shows how to borrow a power bank at no cost.

Entry is free, and you simply pay for what you buy.

Q. What happens to the movie night if it rains?
