What this festival is

Shimokita Craft Beer Fest 2026 Fall (シモキタ CRAFT BEER FEST 2026 Fall) is an outdoor beer festival held right outside Shimokitazawa Station in Setagaya, Tokyo. The idea is simple: bring together breweries with ties to Shimokitazawa, along with other breweries known for distinctive, high-quality beer, so you can try them all in one place instead of visiting each taproom.

The first edition was in spring 2022. Since then it has run twice a year, in spring and autumn, and this is the 10th. The organizers say about 26,000 people have come so far, drinking 20,000 liters of beer between them.

The festival is run by the local shopping street association, Shimokita Shopping Street Promotion Association (しもきた商店街振興組合). Planning and day-to-day operation is handled by TDM 1874 Brewery, the craft beer brand of Sakaguchiya Co., Ltd. (株式会社坂口屋). Brewers usually staff their own booths, so you can ask them about what you are drinking.

Dates, hours and getting there

The festival runs over the three-day weekend in October. Note that the last day closes an hour earlier, and last orders come 30 minutes before closing every day.

Venue: Shimokitazawa Station Front Plaza (下北沢駅前広場), 1-21-14 Kitazawa, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo 155-0031. It is about 30 seconds on foot from the East Exit of Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line.

Free entry and the ¥300 reusable cup

There is no entry fee. The only fixed cost is the cup: when you order your first beer, you buy a reusable cup for ¥300, and every beer after that is poured into it. Rinsing stations are set up on site so you can clean the cup between beers.

The cup is part of the festival’s effort to cut single-use plastic, and it is meant to be kept. You can bring a cup from any past Shimokita Craft Beer Fest, or from the sister event EBINA BOOZE FEST, and use it instead of buying a new one. The cup you get this time will also work at the next edition, which is planned for 2027.

Hop on the Roof: beer from Shimokitazawa hops

The headline beer this autumn is Hop on the Roof, and this festival is its debut. The hops were grown on the roof of Recipe Shimokita, a shopping complex a short walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu and Keio Inokashira lines.

The project started with local residents planting hop seedlings on the rooftop together and tending them through the season. After the harvest, TDM 1874 Brewery brewed the hops into this beer. The label artwork released with the announcement reads Pale Ale.

It is scheduled to be poured at the TDM 1874 Brewery booth. Because it is a one-off made from a small rooftop harvest, it is worth heading there early if trying it is your main reason to go.

Breweries pouring this time

Twelve breweries and craft beer shops are taking part, from Hokkaido down to Shizuoka, with several award-winning names in the mix. Here is the lineup with where each one is based.

TDM 1874 Brewery, the organizer’s own brand, comes from Sakaguchiya, a liquor store in Tokaichiba, Yokohama, founded in 1874. At the Asia Beer Championship its IPA took first place in Asia and a gold award in the IPA category in 2024, and its Pale Ale won gold at the same competition in 2025.

Food stalls

Four popular Shimokitazawa food businesses are setting up stalls, with a mix of beer snacks, hearty mains and autumn sweets.

The pumpkin cheesecake and sweet potato chips are the seasonal items this time. The festival suggests pairing a dish and a beer as you go, which is easy when everything is a few steps apart.

Vintage clothing and other stalls

Shimokitazawa is known for its secondhand clothing shops, and four of them are bringing stock to the plaza, from one-off vintage pieces to everyday wear.

Tips before you go

• Bring your old cup. If you kept a cup from a previous Shimokita Craft Beer Fest or EBINA BOOZE FEST, you can skip the ¥300 cup purchase.
• Keep this year’s cup. It can be reused at the next edition, planned for 2027.
• Watch last orders on Monday. On October 12 the bars stop at 19:30, an hour earlier than the first two days.
• Go early for Hop on the Roof. It debuts at this festival and is poured only at the TDM 1874 Brewery booth.
• Check payment on the day. Accepted payment methods have not been announced, so carrying some cash is a sensible backup at outdoor stalls.
