11:00–17:00 (the last day closes at 16:00)
Pan no Fes (パンのフェス) is coming back to Makuhari. The bread festival, which bills itself as one of the largest in Japan, takes over Toyosuna Park at AEON Mall Makuhari Shintoshin from Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25, 2026. Entry is free. Bakeries from Tochigi to Nagasaki will be selling at the park, and there are two activities aimed at families: a bakery booth that only children can shop in, and a bamboo bread baking session over an open fire.

Why this festival is worth a trip
Pan no Fes started in 2016 at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse and has since drawn more than 1.78 million visitors. The basic idea is simple: bakeries that are usually a long train ride away all come to one spot for a few days. For this edition that means shops from Nikko and Nasu in Tochigi, Tajimi in Gifu, Atami and Izu Kogen in Shizuoka, Otsu in Shiga, Awaji Island, Fukuoka, and Nagasaki and Iki Island in Nagasaki.
The festival first came to AEON Mall Makuhari Shintoshin last autumn and many items sold out. Seven of this year’s 15 bakery booths are new to the Makuhari edition, so the lineup is noticeably different even if you went last year. Because the park is right by the mall, it is easy to combine with shopping and turn it into a full day out.
If you are planning other outings that weekend, the Musashino Art University festival guide covers another event that starts on October 23, and the Asoview campaign roundup lists discounts on family leisure spots.
Kids-only bakery: every item ¥200
The Kids’ Bakery (こどものパン屋さん) is a booth that only children can enter. Kids choose a bread on their own and pay for it themselves, which makes it a good first shopping experience. Seven of the festival’s bakeries made a children’s item for the booth.

Tips for the day
- Go early if there is a shop you really want. Stock is limited and each bakery closes once it sells out, and many items sold out at last year’s Makuhari edition.
- Sunday closes early. On October 25 the festival ends at 16:00, and the last bamboo bread session starts at 15:00.
- Sign up for the bamboo bread session first. There is no advance booking and each session takes only 20 people, so sign up when you arrive, then shop.
- Kids’ Bakery items are limited too. If your child wants a particular ¥200 bread, head to that booth before the general shopping.
- Check for updates the morning of the event. The official Pan no Fes X account and Instagram are where changes are likely to show up first. Access details are on the official event page.
- Keep your phone charged. A day of maps, photos and mobile payments drains the battery. If you use docomo’s d POINT services, our d VALUE PASS guide explains how to rent ChargeSPOT power banks for free.
