Chobirich is the one you pick for mystery shopping and a 15% rank bonus
Founded August 2004, over 5 million members. On 22 June 2026 the rate changed from 2pt = ¥1 to 1pt = ¥1.
Its mystery-shopping offers — eat or buy, file a survey, get half back — are something Moppy, Hapitas and Powl simply don’t have.

On 22 June 2026 the rate became 1pt = ¥1
This is the first thing to know about Chobirich. According to the operator’s press release, when maintenance finished at around 12:00 on 22 June 2026, the point rate was unified from the previous “2 points = ¥1” to “1 point = ¥1”.
You can confirm it on the redemption page too: the Amazon gift card rate is “500 Chobi points → ¥500”, in units of 500pt, credited in real time, with no redemption fee (as of 12 August 2026).

Chobirich Monitor — the thing nobody else has
This is the main reason to pick Chobirich. It runs mystery-shopping offers: eat at a restaurant or buy a product in a real shop, submit a survey, and get points back. Moppy, Hapitas and Powl have nothing equivalent.
| Type | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Chobirich Monitor (in-store purchase) | Buy a specified product in a real shop, submit the receipt and a survey |
| Real / mail-order monitor | Restaurant visit surveys, or purchase surveys for online shops |
| Chobirich × Tentame | In-store purchase monitoring through the partner service Tentame |
Among the restaurant offers listed at the time of writing, terms like up to 6,000–8,000 Chobi points in compensation at a 50% rate were common (as of 12 August 2026). At 1pt = ¥1, that is roughly ¥4,000 back on ¥8,000 of dining.
The rank system — up to 15% extra
Chobirich assigns a membership rank automatically based on your activity over the previous six months (offers used or points earned). Higher ranks add a bonus on your total points for the month.
| Rank | Shopping | App downloads | Surveys |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum | 15% | 15% | 15% |
| Gold | 10% | 10% | 10% |
| Silver | 5% | 5% | 5% |

Compared with Moppy, Hapitas and Powl
We cover Moppy, Hapitas and Powl in the same depth. All four, checked on the same day:
For SBI Securities, the conditions change the answer
| Site | Value in yen | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Moppy | ¥24,000 | Account opening plus a ¥50,000 deposit |
| Hapitas | ¥22,000 | Account opening plus a ¥50,000 deposit |
| Powl | ¥18,500 | Account opening only |
| Chobirich | ¥17,000 | Account opening only (the page states you don’t even need to install the app) |
Moppy wins on the headline figure, but the answer flips depending on whether you can free up ¥50,000. If you’re happy to open an account but not to move that money, the offers you can actually complete are Powl’s and Chobirich’s.

Getting your points out
With 1pt = ¥1 the maths at redemption is now straightforward. Destinations cover cash, e-money, gift cards, points and miles.
| Category | Main destinations |
|---|---|
| Cash | SBI Sumishin Net Bank / Rakuten Bank / PayPay Bank / Japan Post Bank / other banks / PayPal / nationwide banks via Digital Gift |
| E-money and gift cards | Amazon gift card / Apple Gift Card / Google Play / PayPay Money Lite / Rakuten Point Gift / au PAY / Ponta code / WAON POINT e-gift / nanaco gift / Edy Gift ID / WebMoney / Bitcoin and more |
| Points and miles | d POINT / V POINT / JAL Mileage Bank / PeX / Dot Money / DMM points / Bellemaison and more |
How to earn efficiently
1. Push for a high rank in your first six months
Ranks are assessed on the previous six months, and reaching Platinum once, after a year of membership, locks in Gold or above permanently. Concentrating your activity early pays off for as long as you keep the account.
2. Check for the rank-bonus marking
Only offers carrying that marking count towards the bonus. Two similar shopping offers can differ here, so check before you choose.
3. The bonus lands on the 15th of the following month
Monthly close, then payment on the 15th. It does not arrive immediately — that isn’t a fault.
4. Read monitor conditions in full before applying
Visit windows, photos and survey lengths are all specified. Miss one and you are not paid.
5. Compare big one-off offers against direct referrals
Cards, mobile contracts and brokerage accounts pay a lot per application, and going direct sometimes beats any point site:
- Rakuten Mobile employee referral (14,000pt for MNP, 11,000pt for a new number)
- Marriott Bonvoy American Express Premium (111,000 points via referral)
- American Express Gold Preferred (referral welcome offer)
- Rakuten Card sign-up guide — 11,000pt via referral, or 31,000pt applying with Rakuten Mobile
Stacking it with everyday shopping
Buying through Chobirich earns on top of whatever the retailer gives you natively. We measured 1% at Rakuten Ichiba, Yahoo! Shopping and au PAY Market, 1.6% at Jalan and 1% at Rakuten Travel.
And click-through cashback stacks with the store’s own sales and points campaigns. The strongest move is “buy through Chobirich, on a sale day”. We track the sales daily.
Take cash
Bank transfers carry a fee — check the amount on the redemption page.
Take an Amazon gift card
From 500pt, real time, no fee. The straightforward default.
Route it into Welcia Day
Convert to WAON POINT and spend at 1.5× on Welcia Day.
Watch-outs — disqualifiers and the referral URL trap
| Watch-out | Detail |
|---|---|
| The rate changed recently | 22 June 2026: 2pt = ¥1 became 1pt = ¥1. Don’t trust figures in older articles |
| Public Wi-Fi is excluded | Stated in the offer’s disqualifying conditions |
| Non-Japanese IPs are excluded | Same. Don’t complete offers from abroad |
| Same IP, multiple devices | Some offers count only the first device |
| Prior brochure requests disqualify you | Seen on brokerage account offers |
| Rank bonuses aren’t instant | Paid on the 15th of the following month |
| If you refer someone yourself | Check that your member number is appended to the referral URL — without it, nothing is credited |
The same offer pays differently on different sites
As the comparison showed, both the amount and the conditions vary by site, and rates move daily — so the only reliable approach is to check across sites right before applying.
To make that less tedious, I built and run Pointnavi, which compares cashback rates across Japanese point sites.
For a walkthrough, see the complete guide to Pointnavi.
For the record: it is completely fine if Chobirich doesn’t come out on top. The habit of checking before you apply is what pays.
Who it suits, and who it doesn’t
Suits: you want to try mystery shopping
Nobody else offers it, and restaurant jobs run at 50% back.
Suits: you plan to stick with one site
Reach Platinum once and Gold or above becomes permanent.
Suits: you want to avoid deposits
SBI Securities pays ¥17,000 for opening the account alone.
Suits: you want to test a small cash-out
Amazon gift cards from 500pt, real time, no fee.
Doesn’t suit: you only want the highest rate
If you can meet the deposit condition, Moppy paid more.
Doesn’t suit: relying on older guides
The rate changed in June 2026 — always confirm figures on the official pages.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a Chobirich point worth?
- One point is worth one yen. After maintenance on 22 June 2026 the rate was unified from the previous two points per yen to one point per yen. The operator’s press release states that the change was made to unify the displayed rate and that the yen value of the points did not change, so the displayed figures halved while each point became worth twice as much and the amount you actually receive is unchanged.
- How much is the Chobirich referral sign-up bonus?
- Up to 2,150 points, about 2,150 yen. It consists of 150 points for using an offer for the first time and 2,000 points for earning 5,000 points in total. A single large offer covers the 5,000 points, so there is no need to accumulate small purchases.
- Can I enter a Chobirich referral code after registering?
- No. The referral is determined at the moment of registration, so register through the referral link. It cannot be added afterwards.
- What is Chobirich Monitor?
- It is a mystery-shopping scheme where you eat at a restaurant or buy a product in a real shop, submit a survey, and receive points as compensation. There are three formats: in-store purchase monitoring, real and mail-order monitoring, and in-store monitoring through the partner service Tentame. As of 12 August 2026, restaurant offers commonly listed compensation of up to 6,000 to 8,000 Chobi points at a 50% rate. Visit times, photo submissions and survey lengths are specified in detail, and compensation is not paid if the conditions are not met.
- How do Chobirich membership ranks work?
- A rank is assigned automatically based on your activity over the previous six months, specifically the number of offers used or points earned. The ranks are Regular, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Platinum adds 15% to your monthly total for shopping, app downloads and surveys. In addition, once you have reached Platinum at least once and have been a member for over a year, Gold or above is maintained permanently.
- When are Chobirich rank bonus points paid?
- On the 15th of the month following the monthly close, not immediately after you earn them. Only offers marked as eligible for the rank bonus are counted.
- Which site pays best for SBI Securities: Chobirich, Moppy, Hapitas or Powl?
- On the headline figure Moppy pays the most at about 24,000 yen, followed by Hapitas at about 22,000 yen, Powl at about 18,500 yen and Chobirich at about 17,000 yen. The conditions differ, however. Moppy and Hapitas require opening the account and depositing 50,000 yen, while Powl and Chobirich require only that the account opening is completed. If you cannot free up the deposit, the offers you can actually complete are Powl’s and Chobirich’s.
- What is the minimum Chobirich redemption?
- It depends on the destination. Amazon gift cards are redeemed in units of 500 points, with 500 points giving 500 yen, credited in real time with no fee. Cash by bank transfer carries a redemption fee. The exact minimum and fee for each destination can be checked on the redemption page after logging in.
- Why would Chobirich points be rejected?
- Each offer states its own disqualifying conditions. The SBI Securities offer page listed accessing via a link posted on a personal blog or social media, completing the conditions over public Wi-Fi, accessing from an IP outside Japan, reaching the goal from another device on the same IP, and having previously requested brochures. Always reach the advertiser’s site from Chobirich’s own offer page.
- Is Chobirich safe to use?
- It is operated by Chobirich Inc., founded in August 2004, with over 20 years of operation and more than 5 million members. The problems people actually hit are rejections for unmet conditions and cashback that fails to track. The first is avoidable by reading the offer’s disqualifying conditions, and the second is covered by the purchase guarantee scheme.
- Did the rate change leave me worse off?
- No. The operator’s press release states that the change was made to unify the displayed rate and that the yen value of Chobirich points did not change. The displayed numbers halved, but each point is now worth twice as much, so the amount you receive is the same.
- What do I get if I refer someone myself?
- According to the official referral page, you receive 50 points once your friend registers and earns at least one point within their registration month, and 150 points once they complete their first offer within 30 days of registering, plus a bonus based on the points they go on to earn. Make sure your member number is appended to the referral URL, as nothing is credited without it.

Summary
Chobirich is not the site that always pays most. It earns its place for three things that genuinely differ.
Three reasons to use Chobirich
- Mystery shopping — try restaurants and products at 50% back. Moppy, Hapitas and Powl have nothing like it
- Ranks worth up to 15%, and permanent Gold or above once you have reached Platinum — a design that rewards staying put
- SBI Securities pays ¥17,000 for opening the account alone — a large offer you can complete without moving your own money
Also remember that on 22 June 2026 the rate changed from 2pt = ¥1 to 1pt = ¥1. What you receive is unchanged, but a great many articles online still use the old rate. Whenever you read a figure, check when it was written.
And once more: check what other point sites pay before you apply. Differences of several thousand yen on the same offer are routine, and as the comparison showed, the conditions themselves can differ too. Use Pointnavi, which I run, or read our Moppy, Hapitas and Powl guides. That small habit is the most reliably profitable one there is.
