Amazon Japan Prime Kanshasai Guide: Entry and Up to 18% Back in Points
Amazon Japan’s autumn Prime-only sale, Prime Kanshasai (Prime Appreciation Sale), is back for its fourth year, with over 4 million items on offer (up from 2 million last year). This guide covers how to enter the points campaign, how the bonus points add up, the prize draw, and two extra offers worth using at the same time: Audible and the Prime referral program.
⏱ The short version
- ① Enter first: entry runs Sept 24 (Thu) 14:00 – Oct 19 (Mon) 23:59 JST. Without entering, you get no bonus points.
- ② Spend ¥10,000 (tax incl.) in total between Oct 13 and Oct 19: early-sale purchases count, and it can be spread across several orders.
- ③ Stack the conditions: Prime up to +3%, Amazon Mastercard +1%, eligible categories +5%, Brand Selection +7% — up to 18% when everything lines up (capped at 10,000 points).
- Bonus: not Prime yet? Sign up through a referral link and spend ¥2,000 in one order within 30 days to get 1,000 points. Already Prime? Audible is ¥99/month for the first 4 months if you sign up by Oct 19.
Dates
Like last year, it runs as an early sale followed by the main sale. The points campaign counts purchases from the first day of the early sale, Oct 13, so early-sale orders go toward your total.
| Period | Dates (Japan time) |
|---|---|
| 📝 Entry period | Sept 24 (Thu) 14:00 – Oct 19 (Mon) 23:59 |
| 🛒 Early sale | Oct 13 (Tue) 0:00 – Oct 15 (Thu) 23:59 |

How to enter
Buying during the sale is not enough on its own — you have to press “Entry” once on the campaign page. Entering is free.
- Sign in to Amazon and open the points campaign page.
- Press “キャンペーンにエントリー” (enter campaign). When it shows “エントリー済み”, you are in.
- Within the purchase window, orders placed before you enter still count toward your total.
How the points add up (up to 18%)
Once you have entered and spent ¥10,000 (tax incl.) in total during the purchase window, extra Amazon points are added depending on which conditions you meet:
¥10,000+ → +1.0% / ¥40,000+ → +2.5% / ¥45,000+ → +3.0%
on top of the card’s usual rate
some items excluded, e.g. Kindle books, PCs, video games
only items both sold and shipped by Amazon.co.jp
Meet all four and Brand Selection items earn up to 18% back (Prime +3.0%, Amazon Mastercard’s usual rate plus this campaign’s +1.0%, category +5.0%, Brand Selection +7.0%). The exact rates you get can differ by account, so check the campaign page while signed in.
Prize draw and d POINT link-up
Prize draw: up to 100,000 points
Everyone who enters and spends ¥10,000 in total is automatically entered into a prize draw for up to 100,000 points. No separate entry needed.
d POINT link-up: up to 20% back for first-time links
- Link your Amazon account with a d ACCOUNT for the first time, enter, and shop during the window to get up to 20% back in d POINT (capped at 1,000 points).
- Already linked? Spend ¥5,000 or more and use at least 500 d POINT during the window to join a d POINT prize draw (the prize depends on how many points you use, up to 100,000).
- This needs its own entry and is counted separately from Amazon’s points campaign.
Audible: ¥99/month for the first 4 months
Amazon’s audiobook service, Audible, currently has a Prime-only offer: sign up by Oct 19 (Mon) and the first 4 months are ¥99/month, with unlimited listening to eligible titles. From the fifth month it renews at ¥1,500/month, and you can cancel anytime. The sign-up page shows whether you qualify.
See the Audible offer →Prime members only · until Oct 19Prime referral program: 1,000 points
If you are about to join Prime, sign up through a Prime member’s referral link. Place a single order of ¥2,000 or more within 30 days (after coupon discounts) and you get 1,000 Amazon points, added within 60 days of signing up as regular points.
- You can join as a referred member only once.
- Signing up any other way (gift codes, Prime bundled with a docomo plan, etc.) does not qualify.
- Prime Kanshasai is Prime-only anyway, so this is a good moment to sign up.
4 tips to get the full bonus
1. Enter before anything else
Even if you haven’t decided what to buy, enter first — every purchase in the window then counts.
2. Start buying in the early sale
Points are counted from Oct 13, and popular items can sell out during the early sale, so there’s no need to wait for the main sale.
3. Pay with Amazon Mastercard
This campaign adds +1.0% on Amazon Mastercard. If you don’t have one, there is also a sign-up bonus for new cardholders (see our Amazon Prime Mastercard guide).
4. ¥10,000 is a running total
The threshold is your total spend in the window, not a single order. If coupons push you below ¥10,000 you won’t qualify, so top up with everyday items rather than things you don’t need.
Point expiry and exclusions
- Point type: both the bonus points and the prize-draw points are limited-time points.
- Timing: they show up as “pending” a few days after the sale and are confirmed about 40 days later.
- Expiry: the end of the month after the month they are confirmed.
- Prime free trial: the Prime bonus only counts if you are a paying member on the confirmation date.
- Not counted: subscription fees (Kindle Unlimited, Prime Video, Audible, etc.), Amazon gift cards, in-app purchases, Amazon Pharmacy, Prime fees, pre-orders, fees/shipping/gift wrap, and excluded items such as Apple products and some Sony-brand products.
- Counted: items from third-party (Marketplace) sellers and Subscribe & Save orders.
