A record of the shareholder benefits (yutai) with an end-of-August 2026 record date. Roughly 127–137 companies pay out this month. I qualify for five of them through long-term holdings (about ¥13,000), and I have also mapped out ten cross-trade candidates and the eight fractional-share positions I hold. Five sections follow: holdings, cross trades, recommendations, fractional shares, and past results. If cross trading is new to you, the full guide to Japanese shareholder perks walks through the mechanics first.
Last eligible trading day: Thursday, 27 August 2026 / ex-rights Friday 28 August / record date Monday 31 August.

Long-term holdings (5 stocks)
These five sit in my account year-round and have an August record date. No cross-trading cost, and the benefit arrives every year for as long as I hold them.
| Stock | Shares | Benefit | Use | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kojima (7513) | 101 | Four ¥1,000 vouchers (expansion plus the two-year holding bonus) | Cashed at a ticket shop | ¥4,000 |
| Bic Camera (3048) | 100 | Three ¥1,000 vouchers (two-year holding bonus) | Cashed at a ticket shop | ¥3,000 |
| Create Restaurants (3387) | 200 | ¥3,000 in dining vouchers | Personal use | ¥3,000 |
| Ryohin Keikaku / MUJI (7453) | 100 | 7% off digital coupon (1 Dec – early May, unlimited uses) | Personal use | — |
| USMH (3222) | 100 | ¥3,000 in vouchers, or one gift item (Niigata rice etc.) | Personal use (rice) | ¥3,000 |
Holdings total: about ¥13,000, plus six months of 7% off at MUJI.
Kojima (7513) announced an expansion on 13 July 2026: every share tier gains one extra voucher in the August allotment, and it applies to shareholders on the register as of 31 August 2026. So a 100-share position held for two or more years moves from ¥3,000 to ¥4,000. Kojima and Bic Camera vouchers are interchangeable and also work at Sofmap; ticket shops buy them at roughly 85% of face value (¥3,000 → ¥2,600, ¥2,000 → ¥1,700). USMH vouchers are the “one voucher per ¥1,000 spent” type — effectively 10% off — and fetch only about a third of face value, so taking the gift item is the better call. All five except MUJI also pay out at the February record date; the February write-up has the cash figures from that round.
Cross-trade candidates (10 stocks)
Stocks I do not hold but would pick up through tsunagi-uri (margin short plus spot buy) purely for the benefit. The gyakuhibu column shows what was actually charged on past August record dates (yen per share; the figure in brackets is the number of days that year). Source: invest-jp.net.

| Fuji Kyuko (9010) | 100 | 100th anniversary theme-park free-pass voucher for two | Pair ticket | None | 0.00(1) / 0.00(1) / — / 0.00(3) The anniversary benefit is new, so past figures tell you nothing |
| Koshidaka (2157) | 100 | ¥2,000 in vouchers (¥4,000 after three years) | ¥2,000–4,000 | Three years = seven consecutive listings; a fractional share counts | 1.60(1) / 0.95(1) / 3.30(3) / 1.80(3) |
| IDOM (7599) | 100 | ¥2,500 digital gift | ¥2,500 | None this time (one year, i.e. three consecutive listings, from Feb 2027) | 0.05(1) / 0.05(1) / 1.95(3) / 1.65(3) |
| Create Restaurants (3387) | 100 | ¥1,500 in dining vouchers | ¥1,500 | None (the bonus needs 800+ shares) | 1.00(1) / 1.00(1) / 26.40(3) / 18.00(3) Pinned at the maximum rate in 2024 |
| Takashimaya (8233) | 100 | 10% off shareholder card (¥1.5m a year at 100 shares) | Depends on spend | None | 1.85(1) / 0.80(1) / 0.00(3) / 1.50(3) |
| AEON (8267) | 300 | Owners Card, 3% cash back (¥1m per half-year) | Depends on spend | None (1% at 100, 2% at 200, 3% at 300) | 2.80(1) / 2.40(1) / 3.00(3) / 1.65(3) |
| Ichibanya / CoCo Ichi (7630) | 100 | Two ¥500 vouchers | ¥1,000 | None | 6.25(1) / 5.35(1) / 0.45(3) / 24.00(3) Pinned at the maximum rate in 2025 |
| Media Kobo (3815) | 100 | ¥2,000 digital gift (¥2,500 after one year) | ¥2,000 | The higher tier needs 100+ shares listed twice consecutively; fractional shares do not count | No record (not a loanable stock, so it cannot be shorted on standardised margin) |
| Himaraya (7514) | 100 | 1,000 points, or ¥1,000 in vouchers | ¥1,000 | None | No record |
※ August 2026 counts as one day of gyakuhibu. A 27 August trade settles Monday 31 August and a 28 August trade settles Tuesday 1 September — one day apart. In August 2024 settlement straddled a weekend, three days were charged, and the same rate cost three times as much.
※ Gyakuhibu only arises on standardised (seido) margin. The amount is unknowable in advance and uncapped. The maximum rate moves with the share price, so the table shows the rate that applied on each record date. Negotiable (ippan) margin costs only a fixed stock-lending fee: trade value × the broker’s annual rate × days borrowed ÷ 365.
Recommendations
Each entry carries a gyakuhibu risk line: what was actually charged on past August record dates (yen per share, days in brackets) and the maximum rate. This year is a single day, so at the same rate the cost lands at roughly a third of what it was in the three-day years.
JINS Holdings (3046) — best taken as a cross trade
- Benefit: ¥9,000 plus tax in shopping vouchers, once a year at the August record date. Valid at domestic stores and the JINS online shop, one voucher per transaction.
- My record: ¥611 in costs in 2023 and ¥1,882 in 2025, each returning ¥9,900 of vouchers. Three years running.
- Gyakuhibu risk: 0.05(1) / 2.90(1) / 4.35(3) / 17.85(3). The maximum rate is steep at ¥41.6–65.6 per share per day, but with only one day this year even a full pin comes to about ¥6,560 on 100 shares.
- Why cross rather than hold: the shares trade in the ¥6,000s, so 100 of them tie up more than ¥600,000 for a benefit yield of about 1.5%. Poor value to own outright.
Fuji Kyuko (9010) — 100th anniversary, this year only
- Benefit: at 100 shares, one voucher exchangeable for a theme-park free pass for two (Fuji-Q Highland, Sagamiko MORIMORI or Grinpa). Shipped around September, valid to the end of September 2027.
- Gyakuhibu risk: August has historically printed 0.00 / 0.00 / — / 0.00 with a maximum rate of ¥4.2–10.8. But those zeros exist because there was no August benefit at all. The anniversary changes who is competing for the shares, so the history is not a guide. The benefit is a physical ticket with no clean resale value, which also means you cannot put a number on the worst case.
- Note: the prize draw is limited to shareholders who bought in fresh or added 100+ shares. Check the terms before assuming a cross trade qualifies.
Kojima (7513) — worth holding outright
- Benefit: at 100 shares, the August allotment is two vouchers under one year, three at one year and four at two years (¥1,000 each), on top of ¥2,000 in February.
- My record: 101 shares (100 plus one fractional) since August 2023. Past the two-year mark, so ¥4,000 this time — ¥6,000 across the year.
- Gyakuhibu risk: none if you hold the shares. If you cross for the base allotment, August has printed 2.50(1) / 2.75(1) / 6.00(3) / 3.30(3) with a maximum rate of ¥11.2–20.8. The expansion was only announced in July, so demand may shift this year.
- Why hold: the holding bonus is only available to owners — a cross trade caps you at two vouchers. The vouchers also work at Bic Camera and Sofmap, and ticket shops pay about 85% of face value.
IDOM (7599) — the last time it comes with no strings
- Benefit: ¥2,500 digital gift (PayPay Money Lite, Amazon gift card, QUO Card Pay, d Points and others).
- Note: from the February 2027 allotment you will need one year of continuous holding — three consecutive listings under the same shareholder number across the February and August registers.
- Gyakuhibu risk: August has printed 0.05(1) / 0.05(1) / 1.95(3) / 1.65(3) with a maximum rate of ¥6.4–9.6. Low by any measure.
- Suggestion: a one-off cross works this year. If you want to keep collecting it, buy one fractional share now — Feb 2026, Aug 2026 and Feb 2027 make exactly three listings.
⚠️ Things worth settling before you touch standardised margin
- Gyakuhibu only occurs on standardised (seido) margin, the amount is unknown in advance and there is no ceiling. Negotiable (ippan) margin charges a fixed lending fee and nothing else.
- Worst case = maximum rate × days × shares. Once that exceeds what the benefit is worth in cash, you lose money even though the benefit arrives — see Create Restaurants in August 2024 below.
- Small face values and poor resale rates are the dangerous combination. Ichibanya (7630) printed ¥24.00 per share in August 2025 — the maximum rate, pinned for three days — which is ¥2,400 on 100 shares against a ¥1,000 benefit.
- Media Kobo (3815) is not a loanable stock, so standardised margin offers no short at all. You need a broker with negotiable-margin inventory.
Fractional shares held (8 stocks, August record date)
Plenty of companies pay an August benefit; the eight below are simply the ones I hold fractionally. The point of a fractional share is to keep a shareholder number on the register so the years accumulate — then top up to 100 shares on the record date to reach the higher tier.
| Stock | Code | Fractional | Bought | Where it stands this August |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Koshidaka | 2157 | 1 share | May 2023 | This is the seventh consecutive listing — the three-year mark. Crossing 100 shares now returns ¥4,000 instead of the usual ¥2,000 |
| IDOM | 7599 | 1 share | Feb 2026 | Not needed this year. Groundwork for the three consecutive listings required from Feb 2027 |
| Meiko Network Japan | 4668 | 1 share | Oct 2024 | Still accumulating (three years = seven listings). Stays in the ¥500 tier this year |
| Media Kobo | 3815 | 1 share | Oct 2024 | Does not count — the higher tier requires 100+ shares listed twice consecutively |
| Ringer Hut | 8200 | 1 share | — | The bonus is tied to February only. August is a flat 1,650 points at 100 shares |
| Hiday Hidaka | 7611 | 1 share | Feb 2026 | The seven-listing rule is also February-only. August is two vouchers or 1kg of rice at 100 shares |
| CVS Bay Area | 2687 | 1 share | Aug 2024 | Long-term terms again apply to February only. August is one ¥1,000 discount voucher at 100 shares |
| AEON | 8267 | 3 shares | May 2023 | The Owners Card starts at 100 shares, so fractional holdings are outside the scheme |
※ Fractional shares alone never meet the benefit threshold (usually 100 shares). Whether they help at all comes down to three things: which record date the long-term condition is tied to, whether the wording specifies a minimum share count, and whether the condition is a bonus or a prerequisite. Note also that using a stock-lending service, or selling out and buying back, breaks the continuity of your shareholder number and resets the years you have banked.
※ Kojima (101 shares) and Bic Camera (100 shares) are already unit holdings, so the years accrue through the shares themselves. No fractional position needed.
Past August results
What I actually collected on the past three August record dates, holdings and cross trades together.
※ The cash figure is what a ticket shop actually paid, with the share of face value in brackets. Long-term holdings carry no cross-trading cost, so realised P&L reads “—” and the net is simply the cash received (share-price moves excluded).

| JINS Holdings (3046) | Cross | 100 | -¥1,882 | ¥9,900 in eyewear vouchers | Used personally, ¥9,900 | +¥8,018 | Third year running. Gyakuhibu ¥5.95/share/day over three days |
| Kojima (7513) | Holding | 101 | — | ¥3,000 vouchers → ticket shop | ¥2,600 (~87%) | +¥2,600 | Two-year bonus kicked in — ¥1,000 more than the previous year |

| USMH (3222) | Holding | 100 | — | ¥3,000 vouchers → ticket shop | ¥995 (~33%) | +¥995 | Resale rate far too low. The 10%-off style voucher is not worth cashing; I should have taken the 2kg of rice |

| Create Restaurants (3387) | Cross | 200 | -¥5,305 | ¥4,000 vouchers → ticket shop | ¥2,700 (~68%) | -¥2,605 | ❌ Mistake: gyakuhibu too high. ¥26.40 per share — the ¥8.8 maximum rate pinned for three days — is ¥5,280 on 200 shares, more than the vouchers were worth. I had not checked the historical figures beforehand. |
| Fuji (8278) | Cross | 100 | -¥188 | Nothing received | ¥0 | -¥188 | ❌ Mistake: terms not checked. The August allotment requires 300+ shares held for a year; 100 shares get nothing. The same company runs different rules in February and August. |

※ Electronics-retailer vouchers (Kojima, Bic Camera, K’s Denki) are bought directly by ticket shops at around 85% of face value. The 10%-off style vouchers such as USMH’s fetch closer to a third.
※ TKP (3479) has had a single February record date ever since the programme launched in December 2021; August has never been included.
Cross trading requires a brokerage account that offers negotiable (ippan) margin shorts. Once it is open, the credit-card fund-accumulation trick is an easy few thousand yen a month on the side.
