Common reasons the points don’t arrive

From the exclusions listed on the official campaign page, these are the ones that apply to the person signing up:

  • You registered on the Rakuma website; invite codes are app-only
  • You already have, or previously had, a Rakuma account
  • Email confirmation or phone verification isn’t complete
  • The invite code wasn’t entered correctly
  • You unlinked your Rakuten ID before the points were added, or closed your Rakuma or Rakuten membership

What makes Rakuma different: Rakuten Points

Rakuma is a flea market app run by the Rakuten Group. Its biggest difference from other flea market apps is how freely it moves money to and from Rakuten Points.

Pay with Rakuten Points

Use Rakuten Points or Rakuten Cash to pay for items, with no payment fee.

Turn sales into Rakuten Cash

Charge your sales to Rakuten Cash and spend them across Rakuten services.

Fees fall as you sell

The selling fee starts at 10% and drops to as low as 4.5% based on monthly sales.

If you already use Rakuten Ichiba or a Rakuten Card, both your Rakuma sales and the invite points can go straight back into everyday shopping.

Selling fees drop to 4.5% as you sell more

Rakuma’s selling fee has six tiers. On the 26th of each month, completed sales from the 26th of the previous month to the 25th of the current month, counted by both the number of sales and the total amount, set your rate from the 1st of the next month.

Selling feeNumber of salesTotal sales
10%——
9%4+¥5,000+
8%6+¥10,000+
7%8+¥30,000+
6%10+¥50,000+
4.5%10+¥100,000+

From Rakuma’s official guide on how the selling fee changes. A sale counts once when the item price is ¥300 or more.

Everyone starts at 10%, but regular sellers see the fee fall month by month. If you have a batch of things to clear out, listing them all on Rakuma in the same month can pay off.

Getting your sales money out

Money from sales can go to your bank account or be charged to Rakuten Cash. The transfer fee depends on the bank and the amount:

Rakuten Bank, ¥10,000 or moreNo fee
Rakuten Bank, ¥9,999 or less¥210
Any other bank¥210 regardless of amount
Rakuten CashIf you’ve completed Rakuten Cash ID verification, sales are charged automatically once each deal is complete

With a Rakuten Bank account, wait until you have ¥10,000 or more and transfer it in one go to avoid the fee. If you don’t need cash, leaving it as Rakuten Cash for Rakuten Ichiba and other Rakuten services is the simplest option.

Once you’re in, you can invite others

After joining, you can invite friends with your own code. Note that the invite campaign requires the inviter to enter it on the campaign page every month. Enter first, then share the invite code shown in your app with family and friends.

The official campaign page also asks users not to encourage others to enter a code in exchange for anything.

For new, unused items, compare buyback prices too

Flea market apps let you set your own price, which often means more money, but there are fees, shipping and the work of listing, messaging and packing. For brand-new items still in the box, or unused items, a buyback shop (買取店) can leave you with about the same amount, or sometimes more.

Kaitorix (買取X, in Japanese), which we run, lines up buyback prices from multiple shops for new and unused items. Check it before listing on Rakuma and go with whichever pays more. The difference between 「未開封」, 「新品」 and 「未使用」 is covered in this guide to avoiding lower offers (Japanese), and selling by mail from home in the mail-in buyback guide (Japanese).

Rakuma or Mercari?

Mercari has more users, so items sell faster; Rakuma ties into Rakuten Points and gets cheaper the more you sell. Plenty of people use both and move unsold items from one to the other. Mercari has an invite code too, worth ¥500 in points for new users; see our Mercari invite code guide.
