Burger King Unveils Summer-Limited BBQ Steak Whopper
BK Japan will launch three summer-limited burgers, the BBQ Steak Whopper, Cheese BBQ Steak Whopper, and Double BBQ Steak Whopper, starting Friday, June 19, 2026. Each piles American beef short rib steak boldly atop a flame-grilled 100% beef patty, finished with a newly developed “Special BBQ Spice Sauce” blended from 10 spices for a hearty, full-flavored burger.
The Special BBQ Spice Sauce and Beef Short Rib Steak
The American beef short rib steak is first seared over an open flame for a deep char, then prepared using a combination of vacuum heat cooking and oven roasting to lock in the meat’s savory juices. Aiming for authentic American-style BBQ flavor, the new sauce is built on a rich Worcester sauce base, layered with bold garlic and onion and a blend of 10 spices including paprika, cumin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It pairs perfectly with Burger King’s signature flame-grilled 100% beef patty.

- BBQ Steak Whopper: A flame-grilled 100% beef patty and short rib steak topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion, finished with creamy mayo and the Special BBQ Spice Sauce.
- Cheese BBQ Steak Whopper: The same burger with two slices of rich cheddar cheese added for the combined indulgence of meat and cheese.
- Double BBQ Steak Whopper: A volume-packed burger stacking two flame-grilled 100% beef patties with the short rib steak.
