SOGO Omiya in Saitama is holding its 40th Hokkaido food fair, known in Japanese as 第40回 北海道の物産と観光展, for twelve days from 1 October 2026. This year the store puts the spotlight on the farmers and makers behind each product: melon from Furano, Jersey milk from Tokachi, beef raised in Saroma and sea urchin from Yoichi.

The fair is split into two halves with different vendors, and many of the best items are limited to a fixed number per day. Below, you will find what is sold in which half, the daily limits, and the eat-in hours, so you can pick the right day before you go.

Melon, Jersey milk and a LeTAO parfait

The sweets line-up is built around farm produce. Furano melon is only in the first half, and Jersey milk ice cream from Tokachi is only in the second, so the day you visit decides which one you can try.

The Furano melon is red-fleshed and grown at the foot of Mt. Tokachi and Mt. Furano, where strong sun and big swings between day and night temperatures make it sweet and thick. You can have it cut, juiced or served with soft serve.

Rookie Farm uses milk from rare Jersey cows raised at Takada Farm in Shikaoi, Tokachi. The butter is on the pricey side, but it keeps well as a souvenir.

The LeTAO apple parfait is a Seibu and SOGO exclusive made with Hokkaido apples and milk from Jersey cows at Kato Farm in Tokachi. With only 50 a day, earlier in the day is the safer bet.

Premium bento: Saroma beef and two kinds of uni

Two headline bento boxes are sold in small daily batches. If either one is the reason you are going, keep these limits in mind.

The beef comes from the Top Farm group, which raises its cattle from calf to shipment in Saroma. The box pairs steak with a sukiyaki-style topping.

The uni bento lets you compare murasaki uni and bafun uni side by side, with the shop choosing whichever is in the best condition at the time. At 20 a day, this is the scarcest item on the list.

The ¥1,080 bento and which days to go

For a cheaper lunch, several vendors sell a ¥1,080 bento on set days, 30 boxes per day each. The press release lists these as examples, so there may be others at the venue.
