October 1 is Tokyo Citizens’ Day, and Mother Farm, the big hilltop farm park in Futtsu, Chiba, is marking it with a four-day admission discount for anyone tied to Tokyo. From Thursday, October 1 to Sunday, October 4, 2026, the farm runs Tokyo Residents Appreciation Week (東京都民感謝ウィーク): children get in for half price and adults save ¥200.
You don’t need a Tokyo address to qualify. People who work or study in Tokyo count too, which makes this an easy family day out for a lot of commuters living in Saitama, Kanagawa or Chiba.

Discounted prices at a glance
Here is what eligible visitors pay at the gate during the four days, compared with the regular admission price.
| Ticket | Regular | Oct 1–4 |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (junior high and up) | ¥1,800 | ¥1,600 (¥200 off) |
| Child (age 4 to elementary school) | ¥900 | ¥450 (half price) |
The discount applies to admission only. Opening hours, prices for activities inside the farm and anything else not listed here should be checked on the Mother Farm official website before you set off.
Who qualifies and how to claim
- Eligible: anyone who lives, works or studies in Tokyo.
- How to claim: buy your ticket at the farm’s ticket counter and show proof that you live, work or study in Tokyo.
- Dates: October 1 (Thu) to October 4 (Sun), 2026 only.
The announcement doesn’t list which documents count as proof. If you’re claiming through your job or school rather than your address, it’s worth confirming on the official site what they accept, so you’re not stuck at the counter with the wrong documents.
Tokyo residents have a couple of other deals running around the same time. The ¥300 half-price public bath coupon is a nice way to end a long day out, and the 7-Eleven onigiri sale runs on exactly the same dates, handy for a cheap picnic lunch on the way.
What the discount doesn’t cover
⚠️ Combo tickets of any kind are not eligible.
⚠️ Advance tickets of any kind cannot be refunded.
The last point matters if you’ve already bought an advance ticket for one of these days: you can’t return it to switch to the discounted gate price. If you haven’t bought anything yet and you qualify, simply buying at the counter with your proof is the way to get the lower price.
Getting there from central Tokyo
- By car: about 1.5 hours from central Tokyo via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line.
- By public transport: take a highway bus from Tokyo Station to Kimitsu Station, then a direct local bus from Kimitsu Station to the farm.
Bus timetables and fares aren’t in the announcement, so check them in advance, especially on the weekend days when many families will be heading the same way. If you’re planning more autumn trips by train, our guide to the Aki no Norihodai Pass for JR local trains is worth a look.
What to do in early October
Autumn is a good time to go. Mother Farm highlights two seasonal attractions:
Sweet potato digging. Families dig up their own sweet potatoes, one of the classic autumn activities in Japan.

Kochia turning red. The round kochia bushes on the hillside are about to change color. The photo below was taken at peak color in a previous year, so how red they are during your visit will depend on the season.

Whether sweet potato digging has its own fee or schedule isn’t stated in the announcement. Check the official website for details on the day you plan to go.
