Yokohama Jazz Promenade (横濱 JAZZ PROMENADE), known locally as Jazz Pro, turns central Yokohama into one big jazz stage for two days. This year it runs on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, 2026. You can spend the whole weekend listening without a ticket, or pick one or two hall concerts and fill the rest of the day with free street music.

The festival is organized by the Yokohama Jazz Promenade Executive Committee and co-organized by the City of Yokohama’s Nigiwai Sports and Culture Bureau. The announcement came from the Yokohama Arts Foundation on October 7.

Free street shows and parades

The street program is the heart of Jazz Pro and costs nothing to watch. About 150 amateur bands play in public spaces and shopping areas across the city, so you may simply walk around the corner and find a live band. On top of the regular street stages, there are a few special performances worth planning around.

This year’s festival starts with Taiwan. Before their concert at the Red Brick Warehouse, the Tseng Tseng-Yi Trio (曾增譯/ツェン・ツェンイー) from Taiwan plays a short free set at the Yokohama City Hall Atrium on Saturday from 11:00 to 11:30. It is a good first stop if you want to start the day early.

Hot Spring 6, a Dixieland band formed in Yokohama, parades through Isezaki Mall (イセザキ・モール) 1st and 2nd Street at 12:00 and 14:30 on Saturday. In between, they play a stage on Bashamichi Street (馬車道通り) in front of the Zenkoku Kyosai Building at 13:00 and 15:30. The parade and stage times alternate, so you can catch them twice in one afternoon.

Dixieland Parade in Motomachi

The Motomachi parade is a festival regular. This year the Waseda University New Orleans Jazz Club marches along Motomachi Shopping Street (元町ショッピングストリート) at 13:00 and 14:30 on both days, so Sunday visitors can see it too.

Two long-running jazz festivals meet on Sunday evening. Purin à la Mode (プリンアラモード) plays an exchange stage with Hamamatsu Jazz Week from 17:30 to 18:10 at Landmark Plaza (ランドマーク プラザ), Sakata no Tane Garden Square. It makes a nice closing set for the weekend.

Hall concerts and lineup

There are 8 ticketed stages in two halls: the Main Hall of Kannai Hall and the 3F Hall in Building No. 1 of the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. Musicians from Japan and overseas take part.

Same-day tickets

Same-day tickets are sold at each venue’s box office starting one hour before the show. If a stage sells out in advance, there are no same-day tickets for it. Ticket prices were not listed in the announcement, so please check the Confetti page or the official site.

Jazz clubs

Sixteen jazz clubs in Yokohama join the festival, with the cooperation of the Yokohama Jazz-ya Renmei (横浜JAZZ屋連盟), an association of local jazz venues. Each club has its own style, and it is a chance to hear the city’s everyday jazz scene, which feels different from the halls and the street stages. The list of clubs and their programs is on the official website.

Tips for the weekend

  • Plan Saturday around the specials. Most of the free special shows are on Saturday: the Taiwan pre-live at 11:00, then Hot Spring 6 and the Motomachi parade in the afternoon.
  • On Sunday, end at Landmark Plaza. The Hamamatsu exchange stage starts at 17:30, after the Motomachi parade times.
  • Check the street venue map. The 15 street venues and their timetables are published on the official website and social media, and details are added as the festival gets closer.
  • Keep your phone charged. You will be checking maps and timetables all day. If you have a d VALUE PASS, you can rent ChargeSPOT power banks for free.
  • Snacks between stages. The Lawson and FamilyMart buy one, get one free coupons run until October 12, which covers the festival weekend.
  • Booking online for the first time in Japan? Our guide on which credit card foreigners should get first may help.
