A free, family-friendly wellness market is coming to Toyama Park, a short walk from Takadanobaba Station in Shinjuku. Baba Fes! Minna no Wellness Day 2026 (ばばフェス!みんなのウェルネスデイ2026) brings together 39 booths on the public holiday of 12 October: local restaurants and food trucks, massage and body-care experiences, a sauna-themed stall, kids’ activities and vintage goods.
The full lineup was confirmed in early October, and the number of stalls is well above last year’s event. Getting in costs nothing; you only pay for what you eat, buy or try. There’s also a Clean-up Challenge where picking up litter on your way to the park earns you a prize.

Date, venue and entry fee
| Date | Monday 12 October 2026 (national holiday) |
|---|---|
| Hours | 11:00–17:00 |
| Venue | Toyama Park (都立戸山公園), Yakudo no Hiroba area 3-5-1 Okubo, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo |

The event is run with the involvement of AN Inc. (株式会社AN), a Shinjuku company that operates a bistro, an ethical goods shop and a hair salon in the area. That explains the local flavour of the lineup: many booths come from shops around Takadanobaba itself.
How to get there
Head to Takadanobaba Station and leave from the Toyama exit (戸山口). From there it’s about a 10-minute walk to the park. Three lines stop at Takadanobaba, so most people in Tokyo can reach it without a long transfer:
- JR Yamanote Line
- Seibu Shinjuku Line
- Tokyo Metro Tozai Line
The festival area is the Yakudo no Hiroba square inside Toyama Park. The official event guide below includes a site map and the full booth list, so it’s worth saving to your phone before you leave home.

Food is the biggest draw. Expect everything from Takadanobaba neighbourhood favourites to regional specialities from Okinawa, Nagano and Ishikawa, plus sweets, coffee and alcohol. The organiser has only published part of the list, so here are the booths named so far.

Clean-up Challenge: pick up litter, get a prize
The Clean-up Challenge turns your walk to the park into part of the event. Pick up rubbish along the way, show it at the venue, and you get a prize. The organiser hasn’t said what the prizes are.

- Get a special trash bag. Bags are handed out from 5 to 11 October at partner shops such as Nature Takadanobaba and BISTRO CHURA. You can also pick one up at the eco station at the venue on the day.
- Pick up litter and take a photo. For example, on your way from the station to Toyama Park.
- Post it on social media with the hashtags #ばばフェス2026 and #クリーンアップチャレンジ.
- Bring the trash to the eco station at the venue by 17:00 on the day and show your post to receive a prize.
Grab your bag early at Nature Takadanobaba
If you live or work near Takadanobaba, one partner shop for the trash bags is Nature, an aroma and gift shop close to the station. It’s a select shop built around aromatherapy and mindful living, and every staff member holds the aroma oil specialist (アロマオイル士) qualification, so it’s an easy place to ask for help choosing a scent even if you’re new to it.

| Shop | Nature Aroma & Gift Shop, Shinjuku Takadanobaba |
|---|---|
| Address | Daikan Plaza 2F, 1-31-8 Takadanobaba, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo |
| Phone | 03-6323-3991 |
| Website | nature-ethical-store.com |
Bag distribution runs until Sunday 11 October. Shop hours weren’t included in the announcement, so check the shop’s website before going.
Tips for spending less on the day
- Start with the free stuff. Entry costs nothing, and Chillipepper’s pickleball session is advertised as a free trial. Several booths also offer tastings, such as sake at Neko to Sake and enzyme drinks at Seitai-in Uterasu; whether those are free wasn’t specified, so ask at the booth.
- Do the Clean-up Challenge. It costs nothing but a few minutes on your walk from the station, and you leave with a prize.
- Check payment methods in advance. The announcement doesn’t say which payment options each booth accepts. Look at the official site or Instagram before you go. If you’re still sorting out how to pay in Japan, our guide to which credit card foreigners in Japan should get first is a good starting point.
- Check the weather. It’s an outdoor event in a park; any changes due to weather would be posted on the official channels.
