Hanamaru Udon’s Tempura & Oden Pass Is Back
Hanamaru Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Takamatsu, Kagawa) operates the Sanuki udon chain Hanamaru Udon. On Thursday, September 24, 2026, the company began selling its Tempura & Oden Pass in limited quantities. With the pass, every bowl of udon comes with one free tempura or oden item. This is a popular annual offer from Hanamaru. The pass is valid from Thursday, October 1 to Tuesday, November 3 (a national holiday), for up to 34 days, and can be used as many times as you like. The more you visit, the more you save.
What the Pass Covers
For every bowl of udon you buy, you get one tempura or oden item of your choice for free. Besides udon, the Takamatsu Ichigoten Curry (à la carte), mini rice bowls (à la carte) and the Nikohana Set are also eligible.
When dining with family or friends, one pass covers the whole bill. You get as many free tempura or oden items as the number of udon, curry or mini rice bowl orders on that check.

Save ¥100 in Pre-Sale and Use It from Day One
Buy during the pre-sale period, which runs through Wednesday, September 30, and you pay just ¥400. That is ¥100 less than the regular ¥500. You will have the pass in hand on October 1, the first day of use, so you can make the most of the full 34-day period. For example, choosing the Large Shrimp Tempura (¥220) just twice gets you ¥440 worth of food, which is more than the pre-sale price.
Three Limited-Time Autumn Mushroom Tempura
Hanamaru offers a wide range of tempura that go well with udon, such as its plump Large Shrimp Tempura and Chikuwa Isobe-age flavored with green laver. To make choosing at the counter even more fun, three autumn mushroom tempura are being added to the lineup. They will be available for a limited time from Thursday, October 1 to Saturday, October 31, 2026.
- Shiitake Tempura (¥150): thick and packed with umami
- Enoki Tempura (¥130): a uniquely crispy, addictive texture
- Maitake Tempura (¥150): releases a rich aroma with every bite
Hanamaru also suggests visiting daily with the pass and trying a different tempura each day until you have tasted all 13 varieties.
Authentic Kagawa-Style Oden Is Free, Too
In Kagawa, the home of Sanuki udon, many udon shops serve oden year-round alongside tempura. Hanamaru’s oden is simmered in a seafood-based broth made with bonito and kombu. The broth is made deliberately rich so that it is not overpowered by the ingredients, and each store finishes the oden with care. Seven items are available, from classic daikon radish and egg to a unique hamburg steak. Oden soaked in savory broth goes perfectly with udon, especially as the weather turns cooler. Note that some stores do not sell oden.
Takeout Is Also Available
The pass can also be used for takeout. Tempura, fried foods and oden take effort to make at home, so you can enjoy them with udon at home, at work or outdoors.
