Tokyo Square Garden (東京スクエアガーデン), the mixed-use building above Kyobashi Station, will hold its winter illumination from November 5, 2026 to January 31, 2027. About 170,000 LED bulbs light up the building’s terraced green space and the street trees around it, every evening from 4 p.m. until midnight. The organizer, Tokyo Tatemono, describes it as one of the largest illuminations in the Kyobashi area.
This year’s Christmas tree is a collaboration with Heralbony, and it stays up only until December 25. Here is what you need to know before you go: dates, hours, the opening night, and how to get there.

What you will see
The lights are spread across two areas. One is Kyobashi Hill (京橋の丘), a green space that climbs the building in layers from the first basement level up to the fifth floor. It is about 31 meters tall and covers roughly 3,000 square meters, so the illumination wraps around the building rather than sitting on a single wall. The other is the row of street trees around the building.
The event is also designed with sustainability in mind:
- All of the lighting runs on electricity from 100% renewable sources.
- The LED bulbs, decorations and Christmas tree are reused every year, with the design changed each time.

The Heralbony collaboration tree
Since 2022, Tokyo Square Garden has made its Christmas tree together with an artist. This is the fifth one, and the partner this year is Heralbony (株式会社ヘラルボニー), a creative company that works to change how people see disability and to build new culture out of the welfare sector.
The tree is based on 20210425 (2021), a painting by Heralbony artist 時永 蒼生. The work won the Tokyo Tatemono | Brillia Prize at the HERALBONY Art Prize 2026 Presented by Tokyo Tatemono | Brillia. The tree takes its mood from the painting, and together with the greenery of Kyobashi Hill, it is meant to feel like stepping into a deep forest.

A little about the artist: he first tried canvas and acrylic paint in a painting class at age seven, then began painting at home. He mixes the paint with his hands, spreads it, wipes it away and scratches into it with his fingertips, layering it again and again on a large canvas. The energetic texture of his work comes from that full-body way of painting. Paint tends to end up on chairs and clothes too, and in his family, they say paint isn’t dirt.

Opening night: lighting ceremony and concert
On the first day, Thursday, November 5, 2026, a lighting ceremony is planned from 17:45. A local choir is also scheduled to give a Christmas concert.
