  • Many more items beyond this list will be on the tables.
  • Quantities are limited, and each item is gone once it sells out.

House rules to know before you go

Read these first. Some of them catch people out.
  • Cash only. Credit cards and cashless payments are not mentioned as options; plan to pay with cash.
  • No parking. Use public transport if you can. If you drive, park at a nearby coin parking lot.
  • Bring your own bag. The company asks shoppers to cooperate by bringing one.
  • Large items are shipped later. You will not carry home a big telescope on the day.
  • No returns or exchanges except for initial defects.
  • No questions about stock or prices. The company will not answer inquiries about sale stock or pricing in advance.
  • In person only. There is no online version of this sale.

Tips for getting the most out of the day

These are my own suggestions based on how the sale is set up, not instructions from the organizer.

  • Get cash the day before. Since the sale is cash only, withdraw what you might spend in advance. If you are still sorting out banking in Japan, my guide on where foreigners can open a bank account first covers which banks are easiest to start with.
  • Arrive early if you want something specific. Stock is limited and you cannot ask about it beforehand, so the first hours are your best chance.
  • Know your camera mount. Write down your mount type before buying LAOWA or KamLan lenses, because not every mount will be in stock.
  • Inspect open-box items on the spot. Returns are only accepted for initial defects, so check scratches, missing caps and accessories before paying.
  • Think about how you will get home. No parking and a bring-your-own-bag request mean a sturdy tote or backpack helps a lot.

Cash only is unusual for gear at this price level. For everyday spending where cards do work, my guide to credit cards in Japan for foreigners explains which card to get first. If you want to make a full weekend of it, the Musashino Art University Festival 2026 also runs around the same time, and the Asoview Asobitsukushi campaign has discounts on other outings.

Who is Sightron Japan?

SIGHTRON JAPAN Inc. was founded in 1961 as a trading company specializing in binoculars and other optical products. Today it makes and sells its own binoculars, telescopes and filters, and it is also the exclusive Japanese distributor for several overseas camera lens brands and major telescope makers. That is why the sale mixes its own SIGHTRON products with brands like ZEISS, Sky-Watcher and HIKMICRO. The company also supports stargazing events run by businesses and local governments.
