Dolls, chrysanthemums and opening-day activities
This festival combines autumn flowers with the area’s traditional doll-making craft. The decorative dolls received an intangible cultural property designation from Aichi Prefecture in 1964. A local preservation society continues to pass on the techniques.
Chrysanthemums give the displays their seasonal character. The area also has a history of chrysanthemum specialists taking their skills to doll displays elsewhere in Japan.
Additional activities on November 7
If you want to see more than the flower-and-doll displays, choose the opening Saturday. These activities are scheduled specifically for November 7, rather than throughout the festival.
| Activity | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Float parade | Festival floats on parade |
| Traditional-house market | A market held in a traditional house |
| Model photography session | An opening-day photography activity featuring models |
| Health checks | Free health checks on November 7 |
