Mishima Skywalk (三島スカイウォーク) expects its autumn leaves to reach their best around mid-November 2026. The 400-meter suspension bridge offers views of colorful hillsides against the open sky, with two new observation decks adding different perspectives this season.
For an autumn drive through the Hakone, Izu or Atami area, this is a stop to consider for both daytime foliage and late-afternoon scenery. Just keep the dates separate: the foliage forecast is for mid-November, while the sunset campaign runs from November 14, 2026, to January 24, 2027.

When to see the autumn leaves
The forecast announced on October 28 places the expected peak around mid-November 2026. The facility calls the view Sora Momiji (空紅葉), a name it coined for the combination of autumn foliage and the sky beyond it.

The appeal is the broad view from the bridge: rather than looking only at individual trees, you can take in the surrounding hillsides as they change color. Mount Fuji and the autumn landscape also form part of the scenery from the viewing facilities.

The photos illustrate the scenery; they should not be read as confirmation of current leaf conditions. Check the facility’s updates before choosing a day specifically for foliage.
New decks, café stops and the dog run
Opened to mark the facility’s tenth anniversary, SKY CROSS and the Wind and Sky Deck (風と空のデッキ) are entering their first autumn foliage season. They give visitors more places to stop and enjoy the landscape beyond the bridge itself.

| Stop | What to expect |
|---|---|
| SKY CROSS | An X-shaped observation deck projecting outward, with views of Mount Fuji, Suruga Bay and the suspension bridge. |
| Wind and Sky Deck | A viewing spot beyond the bridge, offering a 360-degree panorama. |
| SKY DOG RUN | A natural-grass dog run on elevated ground, with separate areas for small and medium dogs and for large dogs. |
| Mission Bay | An observation café highlighted in the autumn announcement. |
| Amakan Mikan (甘柑みかん) | A mikan juice specialist beyond the bridge, using ripe mandarins from Nishiura in Numazu, Shizuoka. |

A break between viewpoints
The café and juice shop offer a reason to pause between views. If local flavors are part of your travel plans, the Nishiura mikan juice is a particularly relevant stop: the announcement notes that harvesting and shipping begin by variety from September.

Planning to bring a dog? Check the facility’s current admission and pet-use rules before leaving. The announcement confirms the two dog-run areas but does not provide the full conditions for using them.
Sunset postcards and photo contest

Sunset Skywalk (サンセットスカイウォーク) runs from November 14, 2026, through January 24, 2027. During that period, visitors entering at or after 3:00 p.m. receive one original sunset postcard each, while the allocated stock lasts. The image was selected from last year’s photo submissions.
The campaign continues into winter; it is not a statement that autumn leaves will last until January. Standard opening hours end at 5:00 p.m., so check the day’s operating information when planning a late visit.
How to enter the photo contest
The Best Sunset Campaign (ベストサンセットキャンペーン) invites sunset photos taken at Mishima Skywalk. To participate:
- Follow Mishima Skywalk’s official Instagram account.
