Shibuya City’s big autumn get-together is back. The Furusato Shibuya Festival 2026 (第49回渋谷区くみんの広場 ふるさと渋谷フェスティバル2026) fills Yoyogi Park on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00. Entry is free.
It is a proper neighborhood festival with an international twist: around 130 tents run by local groups, embassies and partner towns, a music and dance stage, sports activities with pro teams, and a few one-day-only extras like Akita dogs, pony rides, free apples and ice carving. If you are in Tokyo that weekend and want a cheap day out, this is an easy pick.

What this festival is about
The festival started in 1978 and this is its 49th edition. Shibuya City runs it once a year as a day for the groups and places it works with to come together in one park.
This year’s theme pitches the event as a scramble marché of many cultures, a nod to the famous Shibuya crossing where people from everywhere cross paths. Expect a mix of local Shibuya groups alongside the city’s partner towns at home and abroad. Shibuya’s international partners include:
- Honolulu, Hawaii (USA)
- Miraflores district, Lima (Peru)
- Üsküdar district, Istanbul (Türkiye)
In Japan, the city has agreements with municipalities such as Chino in Nagano Prefecture, and has started joint projects with them, including accommodation subsidies and regular marché events. If browsing regional produce at the tents makes you curious about supporting towns outside Tokyo, our guide to recent Furusato Nozei changes explains how hometown tax donations work.
Main programs: stage, tents, sports and parade

| Program | Days | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Stage | Both days | Choirs, live music and dance by groups active in Shibuya. A joint brass band of students from Shibuya’s public junior high schools is planned again this year. |
| Tents | Both days | About 130 groups, including local organizations, embassies and partner towns, with exhibits, consultations, food and local products for sale. |
| Sports activities | Both days | Sports classes and attractions on the ball game field and basketball court, run with the help of pro sports teams and others. |
| Parade | Nov 7 only | Youth groups, mainly local elementary school children, march around Yoyogi Park while playing instruments. |
| City PR corner | Both days | A booth introducing Shibuya City’s latest initiatives. |
The tents are the heart of the day for most visitors. With embassies and partner towns in the mix, it is a good chance to try food and products you would not usually find in one place.

Families with active kids should head to the ball game field and basketball court, where the sports classes and attractions take place.

Saturday or Sunday? What happens only on one day
The stage, tents, sports activities and stamp rally run on both days. A few extras are limited to one day, so pick your day based on what you most want to see.
| Saturday, Nov 7 | Sunday, Nov 8 |
|---|---|
| Parade around Yoyogi Park Akita dogs | Ponies (brushing, time-limited rides) Free Iida apples (limited quantity) Ice sculptures |
Short version: come on Saturday for the parade and the Akita dogs, or on Sunday if your kids want to ride a pony or you are after the free apples.
Stamp rally, animals, apples and ice sculptures
Stamp rally. Visit the tents and collect stamps to enter a prize draw. Prizes include goods from countries that have ties with Shibuya and tree seedlings. It is a nice way to make sure you actually see the whole site.

Animal corner. Akita dogs are there on Saturday, November 7 only, and ponies on Sunday, November 8 only. On Sunday you can brush the ponies, and pony rides are offered at limited times.

Free apples (Sunday only). Apples from Iida, a city in Nagano Prefecture that has ties with Shibuya, are handed out for free. The quantity is limited.

Ice sculptures (Sunday only). Carvers create animals, characters and more out of ice right on site, and the finished pieces are put on display.

Tips for planning your visit
- Check the official site the day before. Stage times, the weather policy and the times for pony rides are not in the announcement, so look them up on the official festival site.
- Do not leave the apples until late. The Sunday giveaway is limited in quantity, so if they are a priority, plan to stop by early in your visit.
- Grab a stamp rally card first. It gives you a route through the tents and a shot at the prize draw.
- Budget for food and souvenirs only. Entry costs nothing; your spending is whatever you buy at the tents. Payment methods at each tent are not listed, so be ready for either.
- Stack it with other free events. Autumn is packed with free outdoor events around Tokyo. See our guides to the Shibaura Canal Festival, the Setagaya Tamagawa Fireworks and the Musashino Art University Festival for more ideas.
