Craft Gyoza Fes Saitama 2026: dumplings from across Japan, next to the station
Free entry, cashless only, and a fresh line-up of gyoza makers — here is the plain-English rundown.
6 days: 7–12 October 2026If you like dumplings, October gives you an easy day out just north of Tokyo. Craft Gyoza Fes (クラフト餅子フェス) sets up at Keyaki Hiroba in Saitama-Shintoshin for six days, and the walk from the station takes only a few minutes. Entry costs nothing; you only pay for what you eat and drink.
The organiser is LAF Entertainment, and the 2026 tour has already passed through Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Hokkaido since Golden Week. Saitama-Shintoshin has not hosted the event since 2024, so this is the first return in two years.

Cashless only: the one thing to check first
The official FAQ is blunt about this. Entry is free, food is paid for separately, and when you order you can only use the cashless methods the event accepts. Coins in your pocket will not help you at the stalls.
Before you leave the house: the official FAQ page lists exactly which cashless methods are usable at this venue. Check that list against what is actually on your phone or in your wallet, and make sure the balance or credit limit is there. Also confirm on the official FAQ whether your preferred card brand or QR app is included — we are not reproducing the list here because it can change per venue.
A practical note for anyone newer to Japan: outdoor food events increasingly run cashless because it moves queues faster. If you mainly use one QR app, it is worth having a card as a fallback, since phone battery and outdoor signal are both real risks at a crowded plaza.
If you are still deciding which everyday payment app to lean on in Japan, our nanaco guide and mega bank comparison cover how the cards and accounts behind those apps differ in rewards.
What craft gyoza and neo gyoza actually mean
Two labels run through this event, and they are worth understanding before you queue.
Dumplings where the maker has controlled the details — the wrapper, the filling, the dipping sauce, the ingredient sourcing — and finished each one by hand. Think of it as the dumpling equivalent of a single-origin approach.
The creative wing: dumplings that drop the standard formula and combine unusual ingredients or techniques. The organiser calls this the 2026 trend, and past editions have featured wagyu, beef tongue, mentaiko and cheese.
In practice that means you are not choosing between good and bad stalls. You are choosing between a purist version of a familiar thing and something you have probably never eaten before. Sharing between two or more people is the sensible way to taste both sides.

Four shops appearing in Saitama for the first time
The press release highlights four newcomers to the Saitama venue. Two of them are joining Craft Gyoza Fes for the very first time.
| Shop | What they are bringing |
|---|---|
| STANDIONE | House-made pan-fried gyoza with a meaty filling described as close to a nikuman, wrapped in a thick, chewy skin. First time at Craft Gyoza Fes. |
| Yoichi Gyoza Daio (よいち餅子大王) | Draws the sweetness out of the vegetables using rock salt alone — a deliberately stripped-back style. First time at Craft Gyoza Fes. |
| GYOZA SHACK | Coarsely minced pork gyoza topped with green laver cream and Korean seaweed. Debuted at the event during Golden Week 2026. |
| Utsunomiya Gyoza Hachiman Gyoza (宇都宮餅子はちまん餅子) | Selling its juice-packed gyoza and a version with grated daikon ponzu and shiso. First Saitama appearance. |

Four dumplings that drew the longest lines in 2026
Alongside the newcomers, the organiser has pulled in four items that performed strongly at this year’s earlier stops.
| Shop | Item | Character |
|---|---|---|
| Gyoza to Wine Kawa to An (餅子とロイン 果皮と馄) | Beef tongue gyoza | Chef-made, served with a house negi-shio sauce. Springy, crunchy texture. |
| Tamagawa Seinikuten (玉川精肉店) | Coarsely ground wagyu gyoza | 100% kuroge wagyu, made by a butcher shop. |
| Nikutama Soba Ochi × Asakusa Kaikaro | Juicy umami gyoza | A ramen shop’s take, built around the broth-like juice inside. |
| Hakata Hachisuke (博多八助) | Mentaiko and cheese gyoza | Spicy cod roe against mellow cheese. |
Based on the official press release.
Prices per item are not published in the material we have, so budget on the generous side and check the boards at the venue. Drinks are part of the pitch too: craft beer is sold alongside the food, which the organiser frames as the natural partner to gyoza.

Getting there from Tokyo
Keyaki Hiroba sits in the Saitama-Shintoshin complex, and the access is genuinely simple — the official material describes it as a few steps from the station.
- JR Saitama-Shintoshin Station: 3 minutes on foot
- JR Saikyo Line, Kita-Yono Station: 7 minutes on foot
Saitama-Shintoshin is on the JR lines running north out of Tokyo and Ueno, so most people coming from central Tokyo will arrive on a single train. Because the plaza is outdoors, weather is a real variable in October — bring a layer for the evening if you are going after work.
Planning a longer trip around it? Regional rail passes can make a food-event day part of something bigger; see our write-up of the Aki no Norihodai Pass for JR local trains, or the Shinkansen 50% off Tokudane fares if you are travelling in from further away.
How to make the day cheaper
Entry is free, so the whole cost sits in what you order. Three things actually move the number:
- Share instead of ordering solo portions. With eight featured makers, two people splitting plates eat twice as much for the same spend.
- Pay with the card that earns most. Since the venue is cashless anyway, this is free money — use whichever of your cards or apps has the highest return rate rather than whatever card you happen to grab.
- Go on a weekday if you can. Weekdays open at 11:00 and the crowd is thinner, which in practice means less time in line and fewer sold-out signs.
On the payment point: if your everyday card returns very little, an outdoor food festival is a good reminder to fix that. Our Dai-ichi Life NEOBANK guide covers a debit route with a solid return rate, and the SMBC and Olive guide explains a setup that many residents use as their main card.
