Big Boy Kicks Off the “Mala Sauce Fair” on Tuesday, September 8
Big Boy Japan Co., Ltd. (President: Hidekazu Konno; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo), a group company of Zensho Holdings, will hold the “Mala Sauce Fair” at its hamburg steak and steak restaurants “Big Boy” and “Victoria Station” starting Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Perfect for the appetite-boosting autumn season, the lineup lets guests enjoy the chain’s signature Otawara Hamburg Steak paired with a savory-spicy mala sauce.
Chili Heat and Sichuan Pepper: Big Boy’s Original Mala Sauce
The star of the fair is a mala sauce defined by the heat of chili peppers and the tingling aroma of huajiao (Sichuan pepper). Reworked in Big Boy’s own style, chili oil is ground together with tomato, onion, garlic chips and toasted sesame to draw out the full flavor of each ingredient.
The savory-spicy taste and the crunchy garlic chips, which release a fragrant aroma with every bite, bring out the richness of the meat. Fresh notes of tomato and onion act as an accent, giving the sauce a spicy yet surprisingly clean finish. Guests can also add the separately served huajiao oil (Chinese Sichuan pepper) to taste, adding a bright aroma and numbing heat for an even more authentic flavor. Since the sauce pairs beautifully with rice, ordering a set or adding rice a la carte is highly recommended.

The Triple Grill is a hearty plate combining the Otawara Hamburg Steak with house-made smoked bacon and pork sausage. A menu item highlighting the excellent match between juicy grilled chicken and mala sauce also joins the lineup. Because the mala sauce can be ordered on its own, guests are free to pair it with any dish they like.
Set Options and Fair Details
Sets can be added to any main dish. The Premium Set costs an extra ¥650 (¥715 incl. tax) and includes the salad bar, soup bar, rice bar and curry bar, while the Regular Set is ¥450 (¥495 incl. tax) with the soup bar, rice bar and curry bar.
