Yoshinoya’s Topping Festival Starts September 3 with 50 Yen Off

Yoshinoya Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Tetsuya Naruse) will hold its Topping Festival at Yoshinoya restaurants across Japan from 11:00 on Thursday, September 3, 2026 until 15:00 on Thursday, September 24, 2026. During the campaign, eight selected toppings are offered at 50 yen off the tax-included price for both dine-in and takeout. It is a roughly three-week chance to customise the familiar gyudon exactly to your taste.

Campaign Overview

  • Name: Topping Festival (Topping Matsuri)
  • Period: 11:00, Thu, September 3, 2026 – 15:00, Thu, September 24, 2026
  • Locations: Yoshinoya restaurants nationwide (some stores excluded)
  • Offer: Eight selected toppings at 50 yen off the tax-included price
  • Eligibility: Both dine-in and takeout orders

*Some stores may not carry these items or may apply different prices.

The Eight Eligible Toppings

  • Mentai Takana Mayo (spicy cod roe, mustard greens and mayo)
  • Negi Tamago (green onion and egg)
  • Quattro Cheese
  • Negi Rayu (green onion with chili oil)
  • Kimchi
  • Oni-oroshi Ponzu (coarse grated radish with ponzu)
  • Nikumiso Negi (meat miso with green onion)
  • Special Tororo (grated yam)

The toppings can be paired not only with gyudon but also with items such as the Gyudon & Abura Soba Set or the Grilled Beef Teppan Set. Even ordering a single topping on its own qualifies for the 50 yen discount, and there is no limit on quantity. Stick with your usual favourite, try a flavour you have never tested, or stack several toppings together to discover your own combination.

Nikumiso Negi Makes a Return

The Nikumiso Negi topping, originally sold in March 2026, returns in time for the Topping Festival. A special meat miso that highlights the savoury depth of beef is combined with the umami of doubanjiang and garlic, the fragrant heat of chili oil, and crisp green onion. It pairs well with gyudon as well as other rice bowls and set meals, and is also 50 yen off during the period. The added spice and richness turn an everyday gyudon into something noticeably bolder.

Find Your Own “Oshi-Gyu”

From September 3, Yoshinoya is also promoting the idea of “oshi-gyu” — your own favourite way of eating gyudon, the kind you want to recommend to someone else. Adding toppings or pairing the bowl with one more item opens up countless ways to enjoy it. Here are the officially suggested combinations:

Large Gyudon with Extra Onion and Egg

Order a large gyudon with “negidaku” (extra onion) and add an egg on top. Negidaku was created in response to customers who wanted more onion; with a large bowl, the amount of beef and onion becomes almost equal, letting you fully enjoy the texture and sweetness of the onion. In line with the new TV commercial, it can now also be ordered from the touch panel.

Regular Tsuyudaku with Tonjiru

A regular gyudon ordered “tsuyudaku” (extra sauce) alongside a bowl of tonjiru pork and vegetable miso soup. Packed with daikon, carrot, burdock, pork and konjac, the soup is hearty and filling — a classic pairing for gyudon plus one more item.

Mentai Takana Mayo Gyudon

Crisp mustard greens meet mildly spicy cod roe accented with kombu flavour, while the separately served mayo sauce rounds everything out into a mellow finish. It matches gyudon superbly and delivers a topping experience unlike any before.

Gyudon & Abura Soba Set

A substantial set that lets you enjoy gyudon and abura soba at once. The abura soba features chewy thick noodles topped with menma, green onion and shredded nori, and you can change the flavour with the vinegar and chili oil served on the side.

As autumn begins, use these three discounted weeks to search for the “oshi-gyu” that is uniquely yours.
