Three Pastas Starring Crab and Squid
Crab Cream Sauce Pasta – 1,490 yen (1,639 yen incl. tax)
A rich cream sauce packed with the umami of crab, tossed with shrimp, squid and asparagus, then topped with shredded crab meat and flying fish roe. The aroma of crab rises with every bite, pairing beautifully with the sweet shrimp, tender squid and crisp asparagus. Crab is used in both the sauce and the toppings, making this a truly indulgent dish. It pairs wonderfully with the light, tropical sparkling wine Prosecco Spumante.
Nero di Seppia – Squid Ink and Sea Urchin, Veneto Style – 1,390 yen (1,529 yen incl. tax)
A Jolly Pasta take on Veneto’s signature dish, nero di seppia (squid ink pasta). Yuzu kosho is added to the deep, savory squid ink sauce for an addictive touch of heat balanced by an elegant finish. Springy squid and popping flying fish roe add textural accents, while mixing the sea urchin topping into the pasta brings an even richer flavor.
Crab Aglio e Olio – 1,290 yen (1,419 yen incl. tax)
Shredded crab meat is used in both the sauce and the topping for a truly luxurious plate. Fresh cream is added to the fragrant garlic sauce, rounding out the flavor and highlighting the sweetness of the crab. Shrimp, squid, asparagus and tomato round out the dish, with the acidity of tomato and the pleasant bitterness of arugula keeping every bite interesting.
Creamy Baked Crab Risotto
Baked Crab Risotto – 590 yen (649 yen incl. tax) turns the Italian classic into a celebration of crab. Creamy risotto mixed with shredded crab meat is baked until golden and finished with even more crab on top. Domestically grown Japanese rice is used.
Finish with Tiramisu, a Classic Born in Veneto
Tiramisu – 390 yen (429 yen incl. tax) layers sponge soaked in slightly bitter coffee with mellow mascarpone, and is a long-standing favorite at Jolly Pasta. Tiramisu is said to have originated in Veneto, making it the perfect way to close a meal of seafood pasta such as the Crab Aglio e Olio. Note: liqueur is used for flavoring.
Summary
From the deep umami of crab to the surprising harmony of squid ink and yuzu kosho, and a tiramisu born in the region itself, this fair lets diners trace Veneto’s food culture plate by plate.
