dPoint 15% Bonus Exchange: the Real Rate Is 8.7%

Key Takeaways:Docomo’s “up to 15%” bonus exchange is really a guaranteed 8% for everyone plus a further 7% that goes to one in ten people by lottery, so the expected value lands at about 8.7% — down from the flat 10% paid in March 2026. Entry closes 31 August 2026, and the bonus arrives around the end of October as dPoints valid for 94 days.

dPoint’s “up to 15% bonus” is really 8.7% on average

Convert points from 42 partner companies into dPoints and everyone gets 8% added. A further 7% goes to just one in ten people. Before the headline number pushes you into action, get clear on what you actually get, when it arrives, and in what form.

The short version: the guaranteed part is 8%, down from 10% last time

This round is “8% for everyone plus a 1-in-10 lottery for 7%”, so the average expected value is 8% + 7% × 1/10 = about 8.7%. The most recent round, in March 2026, gave a flat 10% to everyone with no lottery and no cap. The headline got bigger; the part you can count on got smaller. Judge it on that basis.

How the 8% and the 7% fit together

NTT Docomo’s campaign — “ポイント交換でdポイント最大15%増量キャンペーン”, campaign code PB7600 — works like this: convert points from an eligible company into dPoints, and a bonus is paid later based on the total you converted. It comes in two layers.

Everyone: 8%
Lottery +7% (1 in 10)
0%8%expected 8.7%15%

The solid red is what you are guaranteed; the hatched section is the part only one in ten people wins. The vertical line marks the average expected value (8.7%), which means for most people the real outcome stops just past 8%. “Up to 15%” is the right-hand edge — reachable only by winners.

The bonus does not land when you convert — it arrives around the end of October 2026, all at once, and not as ordinary dPoints but as period- and use-limited ones. In practice that means a 94-day window running roughly from November into January. Factor that in before deciding whether this is worth doing.

The headline moved from “10%” to “up to 15%”, but the part everyone reliably receives dropped from 10% to 8%. On the other hand, the bonus now lasts 94 days instead of 62 — a genuine improvement, since the old window was too short for many people to spend through.

Put differently: this round bundles a lottery ticket and trims the certain part. The more you convert, the more that trim costs you if you don’t win — convert 100,000 points and you get 8,000 where last time you got 10,000. For small amounts the difference is minor, so just take the guaranteed 8% and move on.

Steps: register your card before you enter

1
Complete “利用者情報登録” (user registration) on your dPoint card

Any one of dPoint Card / Mobile dPoint Card / dCard (any tier) / dCard Prepaid must have user registration completed by 31 August 2026. Without it you cannot even enter the campaign — this is the first hurdle, and the one foreign residents most often miss.

2
Enter the campaign

Entry closes 31 August at 23:59. The order doesn’t matter — converting first and entering afterwards still counts. Note that entering also signs you up automatically for Docomo’s “Myインフォメール” newsletter (you can unsubscribe later).

3
Convert to dPoints on the partner’s own site

Conversions happen on each company’s point site, not on Docomo’s. The eligible window differs by company, so check that company’s deadline before you apply.

4
Receive the bonus around the end of October 2026

Winners see it labelled “(15%)”, everyone else “(8%)”, credited as period- and use-limited dPoints. If you leave the dPoint Club or delete your user registration before payment, you drop out of eligibility.

Entry is on the official page

The same page lists each partner’s conversion window and conditions. Terms can change without notice, so confirm the final details there.

Start dates and deadlines differ by company

Most run 1 August 0:00 to 31 August 23:59 — but some start on 3 or 4 August, and several close early: 18 August, 24 August, or at 20:59 / 22:59 on the last day. Assuming “any time before month end” is how people lose one specific company. Once you know which ones you’re targeting, check their deadlines first.

Details that void the whole thing

  • No user registration, no entry. Complete it by 31 August.
  • The member number you enter when converting must match the one used at entry. A mistyped dPoint Club number or dPoint Card number disqualifies you outright.
  • Conversions made during July don’t count. Only applications inside the campaign window (each company’s own window) qualify.
  • What you receive is period- and use-limited dPoints, not ordinary ones — some uses are excluded.
  • Payment comes around end of October 2026 and expires in 94 days. Roughly three months to spend it.
  • The lottery portion is capped at 100,000 points per account (the guaranteed 8% has no cap).
  • Docomo Business Members are excluded.
  • Recruit Points require linking your Recruit ID to a d Account, and Hirogin Points require membership in Hirogin Point Service — several partners have their own prerequisites.
  • Yorisou-e Points (Tohoku Electric) run a 10-day review after you apply. Apply late in August and the points may not arrive in time to qualify.

If you normally route through Dot Money

Plenty of people funnel points-site balances into Dot Money (ドットマネー) first and convert to dPoints from there. But Dot Money has been suspended since 8 June 2026 following unauthorised access, and the operator has announced a phased restart targeted for around 12 August 2026 (as of 5 August 2026).

In other words, your usual consolidation route is likely unavailable for the first half of this month. This campaign works by converting directly from each partner into dPoints, so the safer move is to check whether that specific company offers a direct conversion — and not to build your plan around Dot Money reopening on schedule.

So who should actually do this

It comes down to three things being true at once.

  • You have points sitting idle at one of the 42 partners. Utility and credit-card points are the classic ones people let expire without noticing.
  • You reliably spend dPoints. Convenience stores, drugstores and d払い make this easy; if you’ve already set up dPoints on Amazon, even limited-use points have somewhere to go.
  • You’re satisfied with a guaranteed 8%. Treat the 7% lottery as a nice surprise, not part of the plan.

While you’re at it: the earning side

A moment like this — moving dormant points — is also a good time to tidy up how points come in. Offers we handle that pair well with this article (amounts and terms change at the providers’ discretion, so confirm on the linked page):

Conversely, if your original points have a better use inside their own service — an exit worth more than ¥1 per point — there’s no need to force them into dPoints. Trading value away to capture 8% defeats the purpose. To improve the spending side instead, design it alongside Welkatsu.

FAQ

Q. How much do I actually get?

A. Everyone receives 8% of the amount converted, and one in ten people receives a further 7%. The average expected value is about 8.7%; only winners reach “up to 15%”.

Q. Do I enter before or after converting?

A. Either order works. Entry closes 31 August at 23:59, and conversions must complete inside each partner’s own window. Note that you cannot enter at all without user registration on your dPoint card.

Q. When and in what form does the bonus arrive?

A. Around the end of October 2026, as period- and use-limited dPoints valid for 94 days from the payment date.

Q. Is there a cap?

A. The guaranteed 8% has no cap. Only the 7% lottery portion is capped, at 100,000 points per account.

Q. I converted back in July — does that count?

A. No. Only conversion applications submitted within the campaign period, meaning each partner’s eligible window, qualify for the bonus.

Q. Can I convert with every partner until 31 August?

A. No. Some start on 3 or 4 August, and some close on 18 August, 24 August, or at 20:59 / 22:59. Check the deadline for each partner you plan to use.

Q. Is this a better deal than last time?

A. The headline number went up, but the guaranteed portion fell from 10% in March 2026 to 8%. On the other hand, the bonus now stays valid for 94 days instead of 62.
