Paid seats and prices
The seating plan was revamped for 2026, and both the Akabane (Tokyo) side and the Kawaguchi (Saitama) side have several seat types. The cheapest option is a free-seating fan zone where you bring your own mat; at the top end there are table seats for groups of four.

Watching for free
You do not need a ticket to enjoy the show. Free viewing areas are set up, and the Akabane free viewing area opens at 15:00 together with a food court, so you can grab a spot and something to eat well before the 18:30 start.
The exact boundaries of the free areas are not spelled out in the press release, so look at the venue information on the official event page before heading out.
How to get there
Every listed station is a 20 to 25 minute walk from the venue, so wear comfortable shoes. The two Tokyo Metro stations are a few minutes closer than JR Akabane.

On the same day, an officially endorsed food event runs on the Kawaguchi side. Food trucks and food and drink vendors gather, so it is a handy place to fill up before walking to the riverbank.

Why people rate this show so highly
In 2025 it came first in Walker Plus’s nationwide ranking of fireworks displays people were glad they attended. A big part of the appeal is the layout: there are venues on both banks of the Arakawa River. From the Kawaguchi seats you can watch the bursts reflected on the water, and from the opposite bank you look up at fireworks launched at an angle, a view few other displays offer.
The event also has a quiet backstory. In 2011, fireworks were set off at the end of a riverside festival to honor victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake. That led to the first official edition on October 20, 2012. Because it is run by local businesses and residents rather than as a formal competition, the organizers call it a hanabi-kai (fireworks gathering) instead of a hanabi taikai.
Practical tips before you go
- Bring rain gear. Rain does not cancel the show; only stormy weather does. Check the official news page on the day.
- Pack a mat. The fan zones on both sides are free seating and you need to bring your own.
- Plan for a slow exit. The show ends at 19:40 but the grounds stay open until 21:00, with staggered exits. Leave room in your schedule, especially if you have a late train.
