Hanamaru Udon Launches a September-Only 870 Yen “Hanamaru Set”
Hanamaru Inc. (headquarters: Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture; President: Yoshihiro Maeda), operator of the Sanuki udon chain Hanamaru Udon, will offer the “[September Only] Hanamaru Set” for one month from Tuesday, September 1 to Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Hanamaru Udon locations nationwide (some stores excluded). The set pairs the “Takamatsu First-Store Curry (small)” — based on the recipe from the chain’s founding days — with the long-time favorite “Onsen Egg Bukkake Udon (small)” for 870 yen including tax, a price chosen as a pun on the brand name “Hanamaru.”
It All Started With the First Store Manager’s Home Curry
Hanamaru’s curry rice has long been praised by customers as “comforting, just like curry made at home.” Its flavor base comes from the “home curry” cooked by the manager of the very first store, which opened in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. In the early days it was served as a staff meal, but word of its taste spread and it was eventually added to the regular menu.
Because it truly began as a home-cooked dish, customers have loved it for years, calling it “somehow nostalgic” and “reassuringly homey.” While carefully preserving the original taste and concept, the recipe has been refined over time to deliver the same beloved flavor today. Chunky ingredients appear with every spoonful, and the mellow richness drawn from those ingredients pairs perfectly with Sanuki udon.
Renamed “Takamatsu First-Store Curry”
To share the brand’s origins and story with more customers, the dish has been renamed “Takamatsu First-Store Curry” — a name that conveys the pride of a brand born in Takamatsu.
Made In-Store for a Homemade Warmth
To pursue that homey warmth even further, the Takamatsu First-Store Curry is prepared in-store (excluding some locations). Ingredients are slowly simmered in the shop’s own pot, resulting in a comforting flavor that feels genuinely homemade.
110 Yen Cheaper Than the Regular Combination
The Takamatsu First-Store Curry (small) normally costs 550 yen including tax, and the Onsen Egg Bukkake Udon (small) costs 490 yen, for a combined total of 980 yen. During the campaign, the pair is available for 870 yen including tax — a saving of 110 yen. It is a signature duo the chain recommends with confidence for both volume and quality.
