Why September and October Work Well for Hokkaido
The travel window of September 1 to October 8 falls just after the summer peak, when Hokkaido is at its most comfortable. One-way fares in the 4,500 to 5,000 yen range from Narita and Chubu to Sapporo/Chitose make a weekend trip north far cheaper than usual, and the Tokyo/Narita–Hiroshima route opens up western Japan itineraries as well.
